🚐 Tu vehículo recreativo (RV) podría convertirse en el lugar donde se preserve la historia de un veterano.
Imagina a un veterano sentado en un espacio tranquilo y privado, compartiendo recuerdos de su servicio militar que quizás su familia nunca haya escuchado.
Por eso, el Good Samaritan Project busca contar con tres vehículos recreativos (RV) o remolques habitables para utilizarlos como estudios de grabación privados durante nuestro evento «VHP 2026 – 250 Recording Edition», que tendrá lugar el 1 de noviembre en el pabellón del recinto ferial del condado de Tippecanoe (Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds).
Estos vehículos son fundamentales para la configuración de grabación que hemos planeado. Necesitamos obtener compromisos de propietarios o concesionarios cuanto antes.

🚐 Your RV could become the place where a veteran’s history is preserved.

Imagine a veteran sitting down in a quiet, private space—sharing memories of military service that their family may never have heard.

That is why the Good Samaritan Project is seeking the use of three RVs or travel trailers as private recording studios for our VHP 2026 – 250 Recording Edition on November 1 at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds Pavilion.

These vehicles are essential to our planned recording setup. We need commitments from owners or dealerships now.

Can you provide an RV or travel trailer for November 1?

Call Paula at 765-404-0568 or email [email protected] and say, “I may be able to provide a recording space.” We’ll discuss placement, setup, access, power, and arrangements before you commit.

Don’t own an RV? Introduce us to an owner, dealership, or camping group that could help. Please share this request directly with someone who can act on it.

Our goal is to preserve 25 veterans’ stories for America’s 250th anniversary. Help provide the space where those stories can be heard.

Every child deserves opportunities to discover what they can do. 🌻💚

At Richfield, children gathered around a table of flowers to explore, create, and learn together. A simple activity became an opportunity to try something new and spend time with their community.

That is part of the Good Samaritan Project’s mission.

Through It Takes a Village and our community outreach, we bring families practical support alongside opportunities for learning, creativity, and connection. Backpacks and groceries matter. So do experiences that give children room to explore and families time together.

It takes a village (ITAV) support, family through programming - in this particular session I shared with the families, the science and biology of Flowers. We made an arrangement and I read a book to the children. It was great to see Dads participate. We learned that families are a lot like Flowers. It takes the right ingredients and environment for them to grow and thrive and be beautiful🫶🏽

At our August Community Impact Day, the Good Samaritan Project distributed backpacks and groceries while bringing families together for activities, wellness resources, and community connections.

A volunteer stopping to help a child with a backpack captures something at the heart of our mission: showing up, paying attention, and caring for one another.

Through It Takes a Village and our community outreach, we bring families opportunities to learn, connect, receive practical support, and enjoy experiences together.

🇺🇸 You don’t have to have served in uniform to help preserve the story of someone who did.

A thoughtful question. A listening ear. A camera recording a memory. Each volunteer plays a part in helping a veteran leave a lasting account for future generations.

A meal today. Groceries to take home. Care that reaches a neighbor’s door.

At Richfield, we distributed 40 grocery bags totaling 320 pounds and provided 72 meals, including 11 delivered to homebound or ill residents. Paula and a fellow volunteer personally went door-to-door.

VOLUNTEER RECORDING OPERATORS NEEDED—HELP PRESERVE A VETERAN’S STORY! 🇺🇸

The Good Samaritan Project needs three dedicated recording volunteers for our Veterans History Project 250 recording event!

📅 Sunday, November 1, 2026
📍 Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds, Lafayette
🕣 Volunteer availability requested: 8:30 a.m.–2 p.m.

Our interviewers will guide the conversations. We need you to capture the stories!

We welcome volunteers who can bring and operate:

• A laptop equipped for audio or video recording, with a suitable microphone and camera if recording video.
• A digital audio recorder, video camera, or another suitable recording device.
• Compatible storage media—such as SD cards or USB thumb drives—for saving and transferring recordings.
• Necessary chargers, power cords, adapters, and headphones.

A thumb drive provides storage; a recording device is also needed.

Recording volunteers will test equipment, monitor sound, save the original recordings, and help transfer files securely to the project coordinator. Please have enough battery power and storage for multiple interviews of at least 30 minutes each.

Training and an equipment check will be arranged before event day. Tell us what equipment you can bring and your experience using it. You do not have to be a professional videographer—dependability and comfort operating your equipment matter!

Military history is personal to me—and preserving it is a responsibility I hold close.

I am the wife of a veteran and a direct descendant of Solomon Hagler. Historian and DAR member Diana Vice documented my connection to General Ulysses S. Grant and his receipt of land after the Civil War. That family history reminds me why we must preserve the stories entrusted to us.

Since 2018, I have been conducting Veterans History Projects after receiving training through Congressman Jim Baird’s office.

Our local work carries forward the purpose of the national Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress, created by an act of Congress in 2000. As America marks 250 years, we join people across the country in helping preserve the voices of those who served.

Now I’m asking you to help preserve another family’s history.

On November 1, the Good Samaritan Project’s VHP 2026 – 250 Recording Edition will take place at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds Pavilion, alongside Veterans Stand Down. Our goal is 25 veterans’ stories.

Commit to volunteering November 1 and sign up for one of our final training sessions:
• Saturday, October 17: 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
• Monday, October 19: 4–6 p.m.

📍 GSP office, 315 Cincinnati Street, Lafayette

We need interviewers, dedicated video recorders, and event assistants. No additional training sessions are scheduled after October 19.

When a veteran sits down to share a story, the conversation may preserve memories their children and grandchildren have never heard. That is the lasting purpose of our November 1 Veterans History Recording Project.
