Join us for Open Studio Sundays, Nov 1 and/or Dec 6 11am-4pm. Hosted by artist and instructor Susan Sward, Open Studio offers a welcoming space, creative camaraderie, and uninterrupted time to work.

Bring your own project, materials, and inspiration, and spend a relaxed afternoon making art alongside other artists.

All levels welcome. No formal instruction—just space, encouragement, and time to create.

JOIN US FOR AN EXCITING ART TALK: Take a visual journey to two of Japan’s ancient kiln towns, Shigaraki and Bizen! This photo essay from a March 2026 trip, explores artisan studios, climbing kilns, and a hands-on workshop to make traditional sake cups and matcha bowls. There will also be a display of hand-selected pieces brought back from four talented artisans.

What to Expect: a look at custom tours and artist shops, a journey through centuries of history at historic sites and working climbing kilns, a peek at the impressive new Bizen City Museum of Art, which celebrates Bizen ware and contemporary Japanese ceramics.

October Maker Monday: Meet George Salter!

George Salter’s photography takes him around the world, capturing people, cultures, and everyday life through his distinctive approach to street portraiture.

Recent projects have taken him to Kibera, Kenya, and Ethiopia’s Omo Valley, where his portraits of the Suri people were featured in Four Visions at the Hoxie Gallery in Westerly. His Omo Valley Collection is also represented by Candita Clayton Gallery in East Greenwich.

George recently received the William Zahn Memorial Award at the Salmagundi Club in New York for his photograph Grinding Flour – Java, Indonesia, adding to an impressive list of awards and exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
