Hello sisters,

Gamma Sigma is holding a philanthropy event, 'Walk a Mile in Their Shoes,' on Saturday April 29th at 2:00 on the URI Quad. The cost to participate in the walk is $10, and proceeds will support the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County. The walk will consist of a one mile stroll around URI's campus (the forecast as of now is calling for rain in the afternoon, but they are still planning to walk, fingers crossed it will improve by Saturday!). If you would like to make a donation, you can do so through the link below (you can also pre-register for the event through this link; please select the Registration option at checkout). Thank you for any support!

Hello sisters,

As a result of clearing out our LHC storage unit of furniture/goods that NHC can not use in the Gamma Sigma House renovation, we are offering these items to alumnae.

1) item will go to ‘best offer of donation to AXO Foundation, Gamma Sigma Building Fund ‘
2) item needs to be picked up at storage unit in Wakefield - CubeSmart by or before March 20
3) coordinate ‘purchase ‘ and pick up with Diane Janaros at 401-662-6487 or [email protected]

The green chair and wall lamps are not available; the couch and loveseat can be had separately (yes these are the comfy couches from the library room!). The boxed item is a dark wood bathroom mirror , never used . We also found a collection of URI yearbooks representing various decades.

Please contact Diane using the information above if interested

Hello Sisters,

Great news! The chapter placed Second overall in their first Greek Week since returning to URI! They and Phi Kappa Psi raised over $30,000 in their crowdchange fundraiser to help fight childhood cancer, they won the Tug of War (because they are real, strong women!), and they did an amazing job with Greek Sing and Lip Sync. This week, they also held a beautiful initiation ceremony that welcomed over 30 lifetime members into our bond.

Hello Sisters, spring has arrived, and that means Greek Week is here (April 3-9th)! This year's theme is Disney movies. Alpha Chi Omega is paired with Phi Kappa Psi (Team Tarzan). As part of the competition, all of the teams are competing to see who can raise the most funds to support three nonprofits (Arms Wide Open, Glimmer Of Hope, and The Cure Starts Now) that support cancer research and cancer patients. The chapter is working hard to meet their fundraising goal, and they are almost there. AXO and Phi Psi are currently in FIRST PLACE!

How can you help? Click on the link below to bring up the Crowdchange site, scroll to the bottom of the page to view the teams, click on Alpha Chi Omega/Phi Kappa Psi, and click on the Donate button. You can also donate to an individual member's personal fundraising page by clicking on their name.

Thank you for any support, and please share the link to promote a great cause while supporting our sisters in their first Greek Week since returning to URI!

Hello sisters! Just a reminder to come by to check out the best offer 'tag sale' at the chapter house this weekend, 12-6 on Saturday and 12-4 Sunday! More items have been added that are not pictured in the first post. The sale is cash (or check) and carry, so please be prepared to remove any large items. We will also have a number of items that are free (donations welcome!). ALL proceeds will go directly towards upcoming improvements at the chapter house. Per URI guidelines, facemasks must be worn.

Access to Fraternity Circle has been CLOSED from Route 138. To get to the house, take Lower College Road and turn left on Campus Ave (past the Union); turn left again onto Quarry Road. Go past ADPi and follow Quarry Road until you can turn left onto Fraternity Circle, near Chi Omega (the Circle is now one way). Follow the Circle up the hill (past DZ and the fraternities), access to the parking lot is through a temporary unpaved entrance across from the Sigma Pi/Theta Chi house. You can also park in the new cul de sac behind the chapter house, or anywhere on Fraternity Circle.

Attention sisters! Want to own a piece of Gamma Sigma chapter house history? Come to the "Best Offer" tag sale at the chapter house on Saturday, January 15, 12:00 to 6:00, and Sunday, January 16, 12:00-4:00. This is a cash/check and haul or carry away event. All items for sale are in good to gently used condition, and will be sold 'as is.' Per state and URI guidelines, facemasks are required for all.

Handy at refinishing or repurposing? There will also be some free (donations accepted) items available. ALL proceeds will go directly towards upcoming improvements at the chapter house. Some furniture - not pictured here - is being stored for re-use in our renovated chapter house for September 2022.

Due to renovations to Fraternity Circle, vehicle entrance to the Circle from Rte 138 has been permanently closed. The parking lot adjacent to our chapterhouse can only be accessed through a temporary opening across from the Sigma Pi house (currently Theta Chi).

If you are planning to attend this sale either day and need more information, please comment below or message this page, and further instructions can be provided. Thanks, and we hope to see you this weekend!

On Friday, December 10, AXO National President Lynne Herndon presented Gamma Sigma’s new charter to Chapter President Sophie Timm after a beautiful initiation ceremony that welcomed the chapter back to the URI campus. We are so grateful to the many people who worked hard to make this happen, including AXO Headquarters staff (especially our amazing consultants Emily Wind and Kelsey Kover), alumnae volunteers, and sisters near and far who provided support over the years (Judy Schmuck, Christine Bornand!). And to the amazing women who are now part of our sisterhood, we can’t wait to see what the future will bring!

A huge ‘Thank you!!’ to everyone who donated to the chapter’s first fundraising event last week! Thanks to the generous support from alumnae, family and friends, the women raised over $1700 to support the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County, which exceeded their goal! Your support was crucial, the storm last week knocked out power on the URI campus and they had to cancel the donut sale, so this amount was raised entirely through donations. Thank you for supporting our newest Gamma Sigma sisters in their efforts to help people in need! – Jenn Dunwoodie Brackett, Philanthropy Advisor

Hello Sisters,

The chapter will be holding their first ever philanthropy event this week in support of the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County. Domestic Violence Awareness is Alpha Chi Omega's national philanthropy, and the chapter has set a goal of raising $1,000 by October 31. We would appreciate any and all alumnae support as they work towards meeting their goal. They will be selling donuts on Wednesday in the Memorial Union, but you can also donate through the link below. Thank you for any support you can show them while supporting this worthy cause
