Kingston YMCA Farm Project We are an urban, educational farm located in Midtown Kingston, just behind the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County. We have 2 weekly farm stands at the YMCA.

We have one-third of an acre in production as well as a learning garden. We grow chemical free fruits and vegetables for the Midtown community. We are working to increase access to fresh, local foods by locating our farm stands in Midtown. We also engage children in farm based education through our work in schools, by bringing classes to the farm on field trips. We use the farm as a vehicle for youth development, employing young people to work on the farm, run the farm stands, and to learn about the local foods system through food justice education and work.

🌺 We know this is a strange ask… we are looking to build a little treasure chest for our Youth Design Team projects & we could use some miscellaneous ‘treasures’ for creative dreaming, design & play workshops. 🐸🦋🐟🌎💦🌲 💚📿🧸🃏🏴‍☠️
If you have some random small objects (see photos for ideas) that could use a new home, please drop them off at the ⭐️ farm stand on Thursdays 3:30-6pm. ⭐️
Block, small figures, mardi gras beads, shapes, etc are all great as long as they are clean and not broken.
We thank you for this help in gathering little goodies for creativity and we’ll share some photos in the future!

As Halloween and Thanksgiving approach, it is the season of pumpkins and winter squash! Those amazing Halloween pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns can turn into a real environmental disaster. According to the Department of Agriculture, more than 1 billion pounds of pumpkins are discarded in U.S. landfills each year, where they contribute 83 million pounds of methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere.

We cannot tackle all 1 billion pounds of pumpkins, but we can compost your pumpkin! Drop it off at our farm in the designated pumpkin drop-off zone. We will chop them up and compost them. A real win-win! We will accept pumpkins and squash until early December.

Winter Farm Stand Reminder! Thursday Farm Stand keeps going through the end of February. In November, we switch over to receiving all of our produce from Hudson Valley Farm Hub. Their certified organic, high-quality produce is grown in Hurley and delivered to us on a weekly basis. Thursdays from 3:30-6 in the lobby of the Y. SNAP recipients get 50% off!

The Fall Youth Farm Crew ends today as we shift towards the end of the growing season. One of their last tasks was planting the garlic for the 2027 harvest in July. ❤️
We will continue to have Thursday farm stands, 3:30-6pm in the Y, through the end of February.
We start our Winter Sessions the first week of November and will continue to share the amazing work of the Youth Crew!

Over the past 2 weeks we hosted over 125 students from George Washington Elementary and the preschool at CCE for farm based learning and exploration. The 4th graders made bruschetta with and the 3rd graders and preschoolers enjoyed pancakes with
Everyone was able to work & snack in the farm, investigate the compost system, explore the pollinator gardens & play on the playground. We even had a sensory station where the students were able to dive deep into grains and mill flour too!
