We are continuing to celebrate you 40 for 40 runners and today we are highlighting PO Sean Ford from the Buffalo Police Department.

PO Sean Ford has been participating in Law Enforcement Torch Run since 2010.
Sean became more involved in the movement after spending time with athletes at the 2012 Special Olympics Games hosted by the University at Buffalo.

Sean’s “why” is that he believes all people should have the same opportunities to participate in competitive sports and have the feeling of achievement and recognition.

Sean’s favorite part of the Special Olympics Torch Run is talking to the athletes and hearing about the different sports that they compete in and the confidence that it has given them.

Thank you PO Sean Ford for all that you do for Special Olympics New York!!

Congratulations to Lt. Barry Banfield on his retirement from the Ithaca Police Department!

Barry's career included service as a Patrol Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant. Along the way, he built a reputation for leadership, dedication, and a genuine passion for serving his community.

As our Southern Tier Regional Director, Statewide co-Assistant Director and a member of the LETR New York Statewide Committee, Barry has been a champion for Special Olympics New York. From bringing the Law Enforcement Torch Run to IPD to supporting countless events throughout the years, his commitment to our athletes has been nothing short of remarkable.

Thank you, Barry, for your years of service and for all you've done to advance the mission of LETR and Special Olympics New York.
Enjoy your retirement. You've earned it!
