Together, with our supportive community, Ulster Habitat helps families build homes, ensuring a brighter future that has been demonstrated to be multi-generational. We believe that everry one deserves a safe, affordable place to live. Our mission is to build strength, stability, and independence through homeownership. With the help of volunteers and donations from businesses and members of the comm

unity, we are able to build homes for qualified families which they purchase with an affordable mortgage. Our families contribute sweat equity/volunteer hours to the construction of the homes and participating in Homebuyer Education classes. During the process, our families become knowledgeable about home repair and maintenance and learn the financial skills needed to be a successful homeowner.

Ulster County's housing crisis requires organizations to work together, and we're proud to team up with RUPCO to bring first-time homebuyers as many resources as possible. Thank you to the Bank of Greene County Foundation for their $2,000 grant supporting Ulster Habitat's mission to build affordable, energy efficient homes right here in Ulster County. This gift helps us continue building homes for families earning 50-70% of the area median income, families who work hard every day but face a housing market that's left them behind.

Meet Amy Barton, captain of Some Assembly Required for Women Build 2026.

Amy is a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Hudson Valley Properties, and she was one of the very first people to sign up this year. Since then, she's been an incredible ambassador for the cause, recruiting teammates, spreading the word, and rallying support across the county.

Her team is close to their fundraising goal to join us on site at Hope Springs in Saugerties this September. Every dollar raised puts a woman on the build site and a family closer to a safe, stable home.

Congratulations to Christine Schudde on her new role with Habitat for Humanity International's U.S. office! After more than two decades with Habitat for Humanity Capital District , including the last 11 years as Executive Director, Christine has decided to take on a national position focused on advancing housing resilience across the country.

Christine has been a close ally and partner to our CEO, Christine Brady LaValle, for years, and her impact on affordable housing across New York State speaks for itself. Under her leadership, Habitat Capital District completed 85 homes and directed more than $25 million in housing investment, nearly matching the total built in the organization's first 27 years combined.

It's a loss for Habitat NY State, but the nation's gain. Congratulations, Christine, on a well-deserved next chapter!
