UUCatskills Join us for Sunday Services at 10:30 am. Check out our website for more information on Sunday service: www.uucatskills.com.

Unitarian Universalism is a religion without a creed, but has a belief each person can find their own spiritual path. Since 1958, our congregation has offered a home for liberal religious seekers in the Kingston area that includes members from surrounding counties. Today, we are a diverse, open and growing religious community. Some of our members are from Christian or Jewish backgrounds, while oth

ers identify with Paganism, Buddhism and other faith traditions. There are humanists, atheists, and agnostics among us, and many who resonate to the insights of poets, mystics and thoughtful human beings across the ages. We are all bound together by the values expressed in our Unitarian Universalist Principles:
1 - The inherent worth and dignity of every person
2 - Justice, equity and compassion in human relations
3 - Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations
4 - A free and responsible search for truth and meaning
5 - The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large
6 - The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all
7 - Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part

We send our unwavering support for Unitarian Universalists (UU) in uniform and our UU military chaplains. We recently learned the Department of Defense (DOD) has removed 180 separate religious affiliations from the US military’s list of religious affiliation codes. This eliminates the code for Unitarian Universalists, as well as Humanists, Atheists and Pagan traditions, and many others. Along with dozens of other religious traditions, UUs will be categorized broadly under “Other” in military’s religious affiliation codes.

Please note this decision does not directly impact the status of our UU military chaplains, who are authorized through a separate faith-based endorsement process with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). What it does mean is that Unitarian Universalist service members will not be able to select their specific religious identity in their personnel records. This may make it more difficult for our uniformed UUs to access the spiritual care that they need.

At this time, we are diligently working with our UUA counsel and partners in a variety of faith traditions to craft a strategic response that faithfully represents our values and demonstrates clear support for our UU service members and their families, as well as all those who are impacted by this DOD policy.

We will share more information when it is available. But today, we declare that no government action can erase our faith nor lessen the powerful and necessary grounding it provides for those who serve.

REMINDER!

Pride is just around the corner! Join us in Kingston on Saturday, June 6, as we show up—fully, visibly, and together. Each year, what people remember is the sea of yellow shirts: our whole congregation moving as one, a bright and unmistakable witness that love is louder, wider, and stronger than hate. Your presence matters. It always has and it always will.

We’ll start to line up at the LGBTQ center on Wall Street at 11am. The March steps off at noon and ends a half mile away at Academy Green Park where the Festival follows.

And don’t forget your Side With Love shirt!

Let’s fill the streets with courage, compassion, and that radiant yellow we are known for.

This year’s Ware Lecture at General Assembly will feature The Rt. Rev. Mariann Budde — Episcopal Bishop of Washington, D.C., and a nationally recognized voice for compassion, justice, and human dignity.

From speaking out in defense of immigrants and trans children to joining multifaith clergy resisting violence and fear, Bishop Budde’s ministry continues to speak powerfully to this moment. We are honored to welcome her as the 2026 Ware Lecturer.

Join us Saturday, June 20 at 8:00 p.m. EDT as UUs gather online and in person for one of the signature events of GA 2026.

The Ware Lecture is available exclusively to registered GA attendees and is not open to the public.
