The Arc Mid-Hudson once again joined forces with The Ability Experience, the philanthropic initiative of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity that uses cycling events and volunteer service to champion inclusion and support people with disabilities. As part of the annual Gear Up New York summer cycling tour, riders from across the country pedal hundreds of miles across the state to build connections, raise funds, and host interactive Friendship Visits with disability support organizations. This year's event was made truly extraordinary thanks to The Advocators: the Putnam Region Self-Advocates. Showing incredible leadership and community spirit, the self-advocates voluntarily gave up their time to host, cheer on, and engage with the visiting cyclists. Their dedication turned the stop into an unforgettable celebration of shared ability, proving that true empowerment comes from giving back to the community and supporting one another.
