Have a question about a legal issue? Our new Legal Clinic is here for you! 🫶

The Legal Clinic is your chance to stop by the Community Center and consult with an attorney. You can get guidance on a range of issues, including but not limited to:

🔸Name and gender marker changes
🔸Employment and housing discrimination
🔸Family law

Our attorney has specialized knowledge in the legal concerns of our community, but your issue does not need to be related to being LGBTQ+ for you to receive support.

🔺What It Costs
Seeing an attorney during Drop-In Hours is completely free. If the attorney determines you need a more in-depth consultation, that appointment is offered at a discounted rate to anyone who comes through the Community Center.

🔺Can’t Make It In Person?
Limited virtual assessments are available to those who express need but cannot attend during in-person hours.

🔺Drop-In Hours
5–7 PM on the first Tuesday of every month

🔺Questions? Email [email protected]

YOU ARE INVITED:🌻🍊
End of Summer Volunteer Potluck Celebration
Saturday, September 26 · 3-6 PM · Academy Green

Join us for a potluck celebrating our volunteers at Academy Green! Bring your favorite savory or sweet dish to share; we'll provide beverages and lawn games. In the case of inclement weather, we'll take the party to Apuzzo Hall in the Community Center instead, same day and time.

Have you been thinking about volunteering with us?

Feel free to join us to ask questions, chat with current volunteers, and learn more in a communal, low-pressure space (with yummy treats!)

Reach out to Silver ([email protected]) if you have any questions; excited to see you there!

Screening: The Librarians
Wednesday, September 30 5:15 PM · Upstate Films Midtown Kingston

Join us for a special screening hosted by Kingston Library and The Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center. The screening will be followed by a discussion.

More urgent than ever, this documentary spotlights librarians as harbingers of danger for Americans' First Amendment rights. It goes behind the scenes of the Orwellian funding networks strategically targeting children's books nationwide, and the big-brother reasoning behind their focus on literary control.

Drag! At The Community Center
All ages 16+ unless accompanied by a guardian · September 26 · 7-9 PM

Hey testosterone boys and harlequin girls - we’re getting in a time machine set for the early 2000’s! Part drag show, part dance party, all pop punk cabaret. Slip on your checkered vans and smudge your black eyeliner, we’re looking for drag looks that emulate everything emo, scene, and all the angst in between.

From 4pm-7pm, get your drag outfit ready in our green room. Free clothes from The Changing Room are available to complete your look.

Party and performances from 7pm-9pm. Prizes abound for best look, best performance, and more. We’ll see you in the mosh pit.

*Drag! At the Community Center welcomes ages 16 and up, unless accompanied by parent or guardian.

Music and Memoir Writing Workshop (Ages 13-18)
September 16,18,23 and 25 · 4-5 PM

Our Music and Memoir workshop is back again!
This time we're inviting the q***r youth to this exploration of creativity and self identity.

Led by Starina Catchatoorian, this 4-week generative writing space is for LGBTQ+ writers exploring personal storytelling through a trauma-informed lens. Using music as a portal for memory, emotion, and meaning, we'll dive into guided listening + writing prompts each week — no experience necessary, all levels welcome.

An affirming, inclusive space rooted in the belief that your story matters.

Funded in part by Poets & Writers with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
