Harmony Project KC HPKC, flagship program of the Northeast Community Center, brings children together through music! 🎶 We aim to build responsible, productive and caring citizens.

Harmony Project is a research-based, multi-year mentoring program that uses music as a means of positive development and social inclusion. We commit to our students for their entire childhood (K-12), provided they maintain good attendance and remain enrolled in school.

Teacher Spotlight: Miss Amber!

Meet Amber Litteken, a Musicianship Teaching Artists at Harmony Project KC!

Amber brings an incredible range of experience to her students. She has spent the past five years teaching elementary general music in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools and holds degrees in both Music Education and Spanish Language & Literature from UMKC. She’s also completed her Orff Schulwerk certification and Level 1 World Music Drumming training.

Amber also performs bassoon with Midwest Winds and Crossroads Wind Symphony.

When she’s not teaching or performing, you might find her crocheting, reading, traveling or training in aerial arts. (Yes, aerial arts!).

Thank you for being part of Harmony Project KC, Amber!

We love that number.

Because while our students come to Harmony to learn an instrument, they are finding their people, too.

It’s National Arts in Education Week, so this is a good time to look at the INCREDIBLE outcomes we see at Harmony Project.

🎶 403 students received free, intensive music education last year.

🎓 100% of our Class of 2026 graduated high school.

🎓 100% are continuing to post-secondary education.

đź’° Those graduates earned $748,000 in financial aid.

❤️ And every HPKC graduate is guaranteed an $8,000 renewable scholarship from Harmony Project KC — no matter what they choose to study.

Our students also attend school at higher rates than their peers and outperform their peers on state standardized tests in English language arts, math, and science.

This is the power of arts education.

It’s National Arts in Education Week!

At Harmony Project KC, we see every day what happens when young people have access to high-quality arts education.
