Four Corners Community Call: Buy the Pound 🛍️

This week’s Four Corners Community Call took us to Buy The Pound Thrift, where the Titan Avenue Angels joined us for a little back-to-school treasure hunting!

Buy The Pound is unlike your typical thrift store: instead of most items having individual price tags, shoppers dig through bins and pay for many items by the pound, with the inventory rotated frequently throughout the day.

With Secondhand Wardrobe Day coming up next week, it’s also a great time to make sure the kids have everything they need before heading back to school—without breaking the bank. 👕👟🎒

📣 This week’s Four Corners Community Call is at Westlake Ace Hardware on Independence Avenue!

🛠️ The Historic Trades and Contractors Expo happening at the NEKC Chamber Of Commerce building (2657 Independence Avenue) tomorrow from 9-noon, and we hope to see many local contractors there! Of course Westlake Ace Hardware continues to be the go-to neighborhood hub for all your home, garden, and project needs, whether you're hiring a contractor or doing the projects yourself.

🚓 This week the Independence Avenue CID's Avenue Angels were joined by KCPD's East Patrol Captain Anchondo. Thanks to Captain Anchondo for visiting with our community.

The Independence Avenue Community Improvement District proudly maintains 22 city gardens along the corridor, and through our partnership with Missouri Conservation, we've expanded to include two native wildflower gardens that support pollinators and showcase the beauty of Missouri's natural landscape.

These gardens are more than flowers—they're an invitation to slow down, explore, and enjoy a little beauty in the middle of the city.

Whether you're driving through, walking the neighborhood, or visiting one of our amazing local businesses, we hope you'll take a moment to stop and enjoy the blooms.
