Lowrider community — I have two opportunities for October 17 that I wanted to share here. 🤎

First, the Chicano Center for the Arts was invited by the Kansas City Automotive Museum to be part of an event at Manual Career & Technical Center.

Saturday, October 17
10 AM–12 PM
Manual Career & Technical Center
1215 E. Truman Road

That morning, a 1993 Corvette C4 will be handed over to students at Manual. They will spend the school year stripping, rebuilding and repainting it through Manual’s auto collision repair program and I-CAR curriculum. So this isn’t just a one-day car show, it’s the beginning of a full year of students learning these skills and trades.

They are creating a ‘Lowrider Row’ and would love for lowriders to show up for the kids.

Also — for my lady lowriders. 🤎

I did a smaller call-out already, but wanted to share it here too. Café Corazón is hosting their Latina Fiesta on October 17 and invited lady lowriders to bring their cars out!

Load-in: 8:30–10 AM
Event: 11 AM–2 PM

There is no cost for this one either.

I really appreciate seeing our lowrider community being invited into different spaces and recognized for the art, craftsmanship, history and cultura behind these cars.

WOW!!!!!! WE ALL DID IT!!!!! 🤎🚘🔥

THIS IS THE KANSAS CITY LOWRIDER SCENE!!!

This has been a LONG time coming. Two years in the making, and now Kansas City officially has a LOWRIDER DAY!

A huge thank you to Councilman Crispin Rea for believing in this and helping make this recognition happen for our community. He saw the chicano art festival and lowrider show and said not only do we need a Lowrider day but we also need to recognize all the hard work that Royals Las Vegas CC and Chicano Center for the Arts has done to make 10 years of celebrating CHICANO LOVE AND CULTURE!!!

But this belongs to ALL OF US.

WE deserve this.

The generations before us deserve this.

And today, my heart is especially with all of the lowrider people, family members, builders, painters, car clubs and OGs who left us before they could see this day. The ones who poured their time, money, creativity, craftsmanship and LOVE into this culture when there were no proclamations, no official days and sometimes very little recognition or respect.

They built this.

They kept this culture alive.

And we are still here because of them.

To every generation that came before us, every person cruising today, and every son, daughter and grandchild learning the culture right now — THIS DAY IS YOURS.

Kansas City lowrider culture has history. It has roots. It has generations behind it.

And now our city has a day that recognizes it.

LOWRIDER DAY, KANSAS CITY!! 🚘🤎🔥

WE DID IT. And damn, this one means something.

When you see something that isn’t right, don’t convince yourself it’s someone else’s responsibility. Don’t stay silent because speaking up is uncomfortable. Don’t look the other way.

Say something. Stand up. Show up.

Because sometimes doing the right thing takes courage. Sometimes it means being the only voice in the room willing to say, “This isn’t okay.”
Choose courage over comfort. Compassion over silence. Humanity over everything.

Every single time.

We are incredibly proud to announce Daniel Grouger as our 2026 Lowrider Legend, to be honored at the 10th Annual Chicano Art Festival & Lowrider Show! ❤️

Why do we recognize a Lowrider Legend?

Because lowrider culture doesn’t continue without the people who put in the work, share their knowledge, show up for the community, and help keep this cultura alive for the next generation.

Daniel has been a staple in our lowrider community, from his knowledge and work with hydraulics to showing up and SHOWING OUT with the Hop Competition! 🔥 He represents the skill, dedication, history, and corazón that make our lowrider community what it is.

This recognition is about giving recognition to the people who have helped build and carry this culture forward. And this year, we are honored to give that recognition to Daniel Gouger. 🏆
