Thank you to everyone who was willing to share a little bit about your journey, we look forward to highlighting your stories!

To begin we're excited to uplift Xavier Salas. A 2025 graduate of Columbia University in the City of New York, Xavier recently earned his Master of Social Work.

For many first-generation students, the path to higher education can feel isolating, this was no different for Xavier. His advice: find community.

“Having people who can guide you through both the academic and emotional aspects of this field makes a significant difference, especially for first-generation students or those from underrepresented backgrounds.”

We have more in common than we think.

At our first-ever En Común Student Summit, students connected over shared experiences, learned about campus life, and walked away with tools to support their mental health and college journey. More than anything, they left knowing they are not alone.

A huge thank you to keynote speaker Luis from Storytellers For Change for the powerful reminder that our roots and our stories are our strength.

You are the reason HDF exists. ✨ And your story could be the reason another student believes they belong in college. We’re looking to feature scholars and alumni whose journeys can inspire the next generation. If you’re open to sharing, we’d be honored to tell your story: https://forms.gle/UrEC82QvdaNT46PZ7

Big news for our high school students! 🥳

38 GCHS students were surprised by the Hispanic Development Fund with the announcement of $64,000 in scholarships, the most awarded to any school in Kansas City.

These scholarships were made possible through funds raised during the Cambio para Cambio fundraiser during Hispanic Heritage Month, where our high school raised the most funds !

We are incredibly proud of our students and thankful for the support that helps make their college dreams possible. 🎓

¡Grandes noticias para nuestros estudiantes de preparatoria! 🥳
