MOCSA’s Daytime Crisis Line Coordinator recently facilitated a SANE Training for 21 new forensic nurses at The University of Kansas School of Nursing. This training teaches the importance of advocacy and forensic nursing working together to support all survivors of sexual assault with a trauma informed and survivor centered approach.

The training shares information about MOCSA’s 24 Hour Support & Crisis Intervention services, advocacy, counseling, legal services and most importantly how to activate a MOCSA advocate to support hospital activations. Advocates will respond 24 hours a day to provide resources, services and supports to all survivors.

MOCSA advocates work with forensic nurses at nearly 50 hospitals within the six counties that we serve in Kansas and Missouri. 🔗⬇️

Thank you to Lisa Fleming and the Rose Brooks team for celebrating the opening of our new home with us. We’re proud to continue working together toward a safer Kansas City where survivors have access to compassionate support.

Our CEO, Lisa Fleming, was honored to join our longtime partners at MOCSA for the grand opening of their new building — a trauma-informed, accessible, welcoming, and healing space designed with the care survivors of sexual violence deserve.

Rose Brooks Center is proud to stand alongside MOCSA in our shared work to end sexual and domestic violence and ensure survivors have access to compassionate, comprehensive support.

During — and amid national headlines that remind us how urgently this work is needed — we are especially aware of the importance of wrap-around services and a community that stands with survivors, believes survivors and helps make safety and healing possible.

For Refresh Medical Spa founder Paige Meyer, supporting MOCSA is more than a sponsorship. It’s a family connection that goes back to MOCSA’s beginning.

Paige’s grandmother helped co-found MOCSA in 1975 while working as a nurse at St. Luke’s, and she later inspired Paige to become a nurse herself. Today, Paige and the Refresh team are carrying that connection forward as a presenting sponsor of Night Out with MOCSA for their third year of support.

Refresh believes deeply in MOCSA’s work to help survivors feel heard and supported, as well as the education and prevention efforts helping create a safer Kansas City for everyone.
