✨ Member Spotlight: Meet Kathy Benich!

"I joined Central Exchange because I believe in the power of women supporting women."

As the founder of Marigold Path, Kathy helps individuals and families navigate caregiving, serious illness, end-of-life planning, and grief. Her favorite part of the work is helping people have difficult conversations before they become a crisis, giving families more confidence, connection, and peace of mind.

Kathy joined Central Exchange because some of the most meaningful opportunities in her life have come from learning from, collaborating with, and being encouraged by other women. We're grateful to have her as part of our community! 💛

🎤 Want to be a breakout speaker at the 25th Annual Midwest Leadership Summit?

We’re looking for speakers who can bring fresh perspectives and practical takeaways to our 2027 Summit.

This year’s theme is BECOME, inviting us to think about who we are becoming as leaders, where we want to grow, and what it takes to move toward the leaders we aspire to be.

We’re seeking breakout sessions that help attendees explore that growth with ideas, tools, and actionable steps they can take back to their work and leadership.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

Even after all this time, that day still carries a weight that is hard to put into words. We remember the people who never came home and the families whose lives changed in an instant. We remember the first responders who stepped into unimaginable danger because others needed help.

In the days that followed, there were countless moments of courage and kindness as people simply showed up for one another.

So much has changed in 25 years. The importance of remembering has not.

Today, we remember.

"I am a firm believer in the power of connection, and Central Exchange plays a huge role in helping me connect with some of the amazing women of Kansas City!"

After many years as an entrepreneur, Julie Smith sold her restaurant, started working at UMKC for the employee tuition discount, earned her MBA, and found a passion for helping others pursue their educational and career goals.

As Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment at the UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Management, Julie helps people realize their dreams of advancing their careers or starting their own business. Her favorite part of the job is seeing the potential in someone before they see it themselves.

As a member of our Emerging Leaders Class of 2026, Morgana is strengthening her leadership while serving as Associate Artistic Director at Kansas City Repertory Theatre. As the lead producer on every production, she brings artists together to bring a playwright's words to life and create meaningful experiences for the Kansas City community.

Morgana joined Emerging Leaders to deepen her connection to Kansas City, continue growing as a leader, and learn alongside an inspiring community of women.

We're proud to partner with Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri and UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Management for the inaugural Midwest Teen Leadership Summit on August 8!

This one-day experience is designed to help high school Seniors and Ambassadors build confidence, strengthen their leadership skills, and connect with inspiring mentors and peers.
