neighborhood is bounded by: 65th Street to the north, Gregory Boulevard to the south, Ward Parkway Boulevard to the west, and Wornall Road to the east. The neighborhood association includes the homes in Romanelli Gardens, Armour Fields and Meyer Circle subdivisions, and has a rich and intriguing history. The area was pastureland for cattle before the 1800’s. Nichols Investment Company bought the land between 65th & 67th and from Wornall Road to Valley Street that abutted a golf course. In 1923, the company acquired the land from 67th to 71st for $622,000 and noted that it was the “last large tract of land for development”! One of the requirements made by the J.C. Nichols company was for all areas they developed to form homes associations. The Armour Fields Homes Association was established in 1926 when it held its first meeting with 30 members present. Armour Fields is a member of the Homes Associations of Kansas City (HAKC)

Neighbors,

As we prepare to celebrate Armour Fields’ 100th Anniversary in 2026, we are beginning work on a commemorative neighborhood history book.

Our goal is to capture the full story of Armour Fields, from the Armour Home built in the 1840s, through the neighborhood’s development beginning in the 1920s, and the decades that followed. We hope to highlight the architecture and unique character of our homes, the islands and fountains, and the people and stories that have shaped our community over the years.

We are currently looking for:
-Historical materials: photos, documents, letters, articles, maps, or memorabilia
Personal stories: memories of your home, past residents, or -neighborhood traditions (even family lore or “hearsay” is welcome)
-Expertise: anyone with experience in writing, editing, publishing, design, or archival research

If you have anything to share, or would like to get involved in the project, we would love to hear from you.

Over the past two evenings, our HOA has been targeted by someone setting bags of leaves on fire. We have reports that the vehicle involved is possibly a maroon Jeep.

So far, we are aware of incidents near:
-70th Terrace & Wornall
-The 600 block of 68th Terrace
-The 600 block of 69th Street

We ask all residents to please check their security cameras for any relevant footage and send it to HOA security board member John Butler at [email protected].

If you see suspicious activity or the vehicle in question, please call 911 immediately, as well as Titan Protection. Additionally, remember to use our neighborhood Google form to report incidents so we can track and stay informed (form: https://forms.gle/4975xFxW5kXF1mt39)

This issue has also been reported in nearby neighborhoods, including Sunset Hill, Lea Manor, and Verona Hills. Let’s work together to catch those responsible and keep our community safe.
