We have a Wonderful update on Roscoe
Thank You to Dr Sarah and Dr Jackie at True Vet in Verona Wi.
Another lab test shows all results back to normal except a slight liver elevation which they said could be caused by the dental disease.
Both vets were Not convinced he truly has kidney disease and that the acute attack was likely due to urinary infection or something else.
They cleared him of getting subcutaneous fluids moving forward (although I just ordered 12 bags on chewey lol) they also said he didnt need to stay on a kidney diet however they suggested maybe mixing the remaining Royal Canin food with an otc royal canin low fat diet just to help with the organs and osteoarthritis.
Roscoe had 2 extractions and had a substantial amount of overgrown gum removed which was causing tremendous pain.
I have to say im glad I got a 2nd opinion because I knew Roscoes not eating wasnt entirely from the acute kidney flare up but infact was mouth related. After VCA stated they didnt to the sedated oral exam as asked, and how they started discussing his quality of life, I knew I needed to go elsewhere.

I absolutely trust True Veterinary. Now Roscoe will make a full recovery and hopefully be back to his normal grumpy self haha. Jkjk.

MEET BENNY. He gets the spotlight tonight.
Benny came to me over a year ago. He was suffering from some severe aggression with major violence toward a toddler. Benny had triggers like brooms and other objects that would spark aggression.
I got word that the family had no choice but consider euthanasia. When I got word, I left work and raced from out of town to get Benny.
It didnt take long to learn Benny's triggers and the dos and don'ts.
He became very possessive and territorial when out side and when I tried to bring him in he would attack.
There were many times I questioned what I got myself into but I wasnt going to fail him.
Shortly after getting Benny I noticed he was having seizures. He is currently on Keppra 750mg twice a day.
Even after him giving me numerous stitches, I kept moving forward working with him to gain his trust and rehabilitate him of his aggression. I worked closely with the Vets and tried several medications and finally found the one that helps eliminate any remaining anxiety & aggression. He gets anywhere from 600-900mg of gabapentin a day depending the mood. Most of the time he gets 600.
It has been months since Benny has shown any aggression. He is amazing with kids, toddlers and other dogs.
He will always be here with me. Because of his past it poses a risk to adopt out and tbh I know him best since his changes.
Benny is a fun ray of sunshine and adds lots if joy to the rescue and my heart.
Im PROUD of Benny. He has come a long way.
