Congratulations to Ginna Isunza, YWCA Community Immigrant & Refugee Program Specialist, and YWCA Rock County on successfully completing the Colibrí Fellowship!
The Colibrí Fellowship is a specialized immigration legal services training program made possible through a partnership between Centro Hispano Dane County, The Resurrection Project, and the VIISTA Program at Villanova University.

Over the course of this year-long fellowship, and with the support and investment of YWCA Rock County, Ginna completed extensive training in immigration law. This achievement positions both Ginna and YWCA Rock County to pursue Department of Justice (DOJ) accreditation—an important milestone in expanding access to trusted, high-quality immigration legal services for immigrant and refugee families throughout our community.

At YWCA Rock County, we believe in investing in the professional development of our staff while strengthening our capacity to serve those who need us most. We are incredibly proud of Ginna’s dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to supporting immigrant and refugee families across Rock County.

With this training and certification now complete, the next step is securing DOJ accreditation at the agency level. While there is still work ahead, we are making meaningful progress toward increasing access to critical legal resources in our community.

Stay tuned—we look forward to sharing more good news as this journey continues!

June’s Courageous Conversation will take place IN-Person for the first time since COVID. This progressive conversation around Rock County’s history was started in February, continued in March, and will have the chance to transcend from history to present as we discuss Transformative Justice. Transformative justice (TJ) is a framework for responding to violence and harm without relying on state punishment, such as police or prisons. We gather to discuss possible steps our community can take in transforming to a more equitable, anti-racist environment.

Juneteenth marks the day freedom reached those who had long been denied it—and reminds us how far we still must go. At YWCA Rock County, our commitment to eliminating racism is not symbolic—it’s constant, urgent, and actionable. Today and on June 19th, we honor Black liberation, confront injustice, and recommit to building a future rooted in equity and dignity for all.
