💔 Sofie Deserves Better. We Can Help. 💔
In early September, neighbors began posting about two unfamiliar cats wandering the area. No one came forward to claim them. No one was feeding them. So we stepped in.
One cat escaped before we could get him safely contained, but the other, a beautiful dilute calico wearing a nearly embedded flea collar, was rescued and brought to safety.
We named her Sofie.
A microchip scan revealed she had been adopted as a kitten three years ago, along with her brother Max, from a rescue in Florida. After countless calls, emails, and texts, we learned the heartbreaking truth: Sofie and Max had been abandoned.
Sofie was adopted as an indoor-only cat, yet somehow found herself outside, left to fend for herself. For a cat with no survival skills, that can be a death sentence.
Thankfully, her brother Max was also found and taken in by a caring family. Sofie, however, had nowhere to go.
Despite everything she's endured, Sofie is incredibly sweet, gentle, affectionate, and trusting. She loves cuddles and purrs through the pain.
And unfortunately, there is pain.
During her veterinary exam, Sofie was found to have multiple open-mouth ulcers and teeth with exposed roots. Her veterinarian believes she has been suffering from severe dental pain, though she hides it remarkably well.
The good news? Other than her dental issues, Sofie is healthy and ready for a brighter future.
Now she needs our help.
