🇺🇸 What an incredible Memorial Day! JDART members had a fantastic time honoring our nation's heroes today, with both of our units out participating in two different local parades.
We were proud to have one unit in the Napoleon parade and our second unit representing in the Spring Arbor parade!
It was a beautiful, picture-perfect day to come together as a community and pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. We are deeply grateful.

⭐ This Week’s Warrior Spotlight: Chief Christopher Simpson ⭐

Current Police Chief – City of Jackson, Michigan

From 1991–2017, Chief Simpson faithfully served with the City of Jackson Police Department, holding numerous leadership and specialized positions including:

Patrol Officer
C.R.A.C. Drug Enforcement Unit
Liaison Officer – Jackson High School
Department Training Coordinator
Jackson Special Response Team
Honor Guard Coordinator
Sergeant
Lieutenant

After retiring from the department in 2017, his service continued.

2020–2025
Served as Undersheriff for the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff

2025
Appointed Police Chief for the City of Jackson

🇺🇸 Military Service

Chief Simpson joined the United States Army and served 4 years as an Infantryman before continuing his military career with the Michigan Army National Guard.

Deployed to Iraq in 2003
Served our nation for 30 years
Retired in 2016 as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9)

Today Jdart was called out to provide recovery resources for the firefighters working the brush fire on E. Ganson St. We were happy to supply water, Gatorade, and snacks to help support the crews as they worked hard in the heat to get the fire under control. Thank you to Culver’s for providing 150 burgers at no charge.

Multiple fire departments, along with the DNR, put in an exhausting afternoon and evening battling this fire.

Thank you to all the firefighters and emergency personnel involved today. We hope you are all able to get some much-needed rest tonight after such a demanding day.

JDART was proud to support the Tunnel To Towers 5K Run & Walk by providing water, bananas, and granola bars to participants post-race. Although the event was marked by occasional thunder and rain, attendance was strong.

We remember and pay tribute to those who gave their lives today and every day.

You can also pickup registration packets on the day of the event, Saturday May 16, 2026. Ceremonies will start right around 8am, with the Run/Walk kicking off at 9:11 am.
