Because of a lack of cooperation with sorting batteries as we have requested, batteries will be $3 per pound starting September 1. This does not include lead acid batteries of all types.

Free latex paint recycling this Thursday, July 23 from 3 to 6pm. You must sign up at the Jackson County Conservation District website for location and time slots. You must have an appt. to participate.

Collection site is at the Jackson County Road Commission on Elm Road. Use the Chanter Road entrance.

Yes, we are open on Saturday, July 4th. If the heat index gets above 90, we will close at noon. So don’t wait to arrive at the last minute. Sorry for any inconvenience. The wellbeing of our volunteers comes first.

Celebrate Earth Day by participating in a local recycling drive. Recycle the packaging, paper, and old electronics you no longer need for free from 3:00-6:00pm on Wednesday, April 22 at 1384 N. Brown Street.



Accepted items: (MUST BE CLEAN and ORGANIZED)



· Glass
· Styrofoam
· Batteries
· Electronics (televisions, cell phones, laptops, computers, keyboards, mice)
· Cardboard
· Office paper
· Clean plastic food/beverage containers
· Small appliances
· Latex paint – liquid in a good can please. We cannot accept stains, varnish or oil paint, or latex paint with additives like DryLoc paint.

We will be accepting latex paint again this year at $2 per gallon. Collection will start April 4 and end in October.



Paint must be in a good container; must be liquid; must be latex paint.



See the list for materials we do not accept.



The not accepted paint material would be accepted at the county Household Hazardous Waste events held by the Jackson Conservation District. The dry lock paint/drywall mud can be dried out and put in the trash .

Drywall mud, adhesives, grout, etc.
Vinyl latex paint
We sort through paint when you arrive and will leave the material we
cannot accept in your vehicle.
Jackson Conservation District does have household hazardous
waste collection events several times a year. Call them at 517- 395 -
2082 for details.
