SEE 1 TEACH 1 is more than a nonprofit—it’s a movement rooted in action, trust, and showing up when the community needs it most.
Founded by Tenisha Brown, a dedicated community activist and violence interrupter, SEE 1 TEACH 1 was built on real-life service, not just ideas. From organizing support during the Reed Manor fire—ensuring displaced families had shelter, resources, and advocacy—to standing in front of city leadership to speak for the people, this work is hands-on, urgent, and consistent.
No matter the circumstance—crisis, hardship, or everyday need—SEE 1 TEACH 1 is committed to making sure the community is seen, supported, and never left behind.
Working alongside community partner Justin Counts with Jackson Strength Network , the organization provides direct outreach, emergency support, mentorship, and guidance to individuals and families navigating tough times. Together, they serve as a bridge between the people and the resources they need, while building real relationships on the ground.
With the support and recognition of local leadership, including the mayor, city council, and city commissioner, SEE 1 TEACH 1 continues to push for real change—creating safer environments, stronger families, and opportunities for growth.
At its core, SEE 1 TEACH 1 stands on one principle: when one person rises, we all rise. And in this community, no one stands alone.
