🌎 Happy World Environment Day! It’s a great day to focus on ecological crises, and how we can drive action. What can you do?
🌱Join us Saturday 6/5 at the River & Rail to learn from our friends at My Green Michigan about our new community compost program! This will be one of Grow Jackson’s ongoing initiatives - composting is highlighted as a core climate action because it reduces greenhouse gases by diverting organic waste from landfills and returns vital nutrients to the soil - in this case, right to our own soil in our gardens!
But that’s not the only new exciting program to debut Saturday - Our weekly Market Connect series launches at 11:30, featuring an interactive food lesson with our nutrition team and recipe tasting each week! This week’s feature is asparagus… be sure to attend, and you’ll get a coupon to do some shopping afterwards!
And did you know? On the heels of National Cheese Day, we welcome a new cheese vendor! The The Cheese Lady East Lansing joins us weekly starting this Saturday -
The Jackson Pottery & Clay Guild will also be here - they always bring a beautiful collection of handcrafted pottery - please consider shopping with them in the event you have a wedding, housewarming, graduation, or any other special event coming up!
Beth and the Happy Camper Cafe return with fresh coffee and the full food and drink menu - try an amazing brat or sandwich, a smoked sausage with sweet and smokey kraut or onions and topped with Old Dog Sauce and Spice Whiskey Peach Sauce; have a Red Barn Bakery jumbo chocolate chip cookie or rice krispie treat for snack; Grab a latte, or *new* vanilla Birthday Cake latte, or another uniquely, flavored Boba or lemonade -
The highly requested Fork in Nigeria rolls in at noon and will be here till 8 PM, pre-order to avoid the line! Other prepared food offerings 9:00 - 2:00 include:
Bread Bites Mediterranean returns next Saturday - with samosas, spinach pies, and those fabulous pistachio and chocolate croissants -
Touch & Taste with Wildana - Haitian cuisine - be sure and preorder online for a quick pick up -
🔥Ignite Donuts now has with sandwiches, too!
And of course, all the seasonal produce and other local goodness! (Vendors are often in and out this time of year as the prioritize weddings, graduations, and other special events. Thank you in advance for your patience with our rotating roster - very soon, we will double the size of our market patio and it will be full with vendors!)
