It’s our birthday! 🎉

SHINE Humanity Pakistan turns 13 today.

For 13 years, we have worked to bring healthcare closer to communities that need it most. Every clinic, camp, school session, and patient story has been part of the same mission: serving the underserved with care.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.

Here’s to more years of healing, hope, and access!

In rural communities, skin concerns often go untreated because timely medical care is not always within reach.

To help address this gap, SHINE Humanity conducted a free Skin Screening Camp at our Packages Clinic in Chilya, where patients were guided through registration on our EMPR system, vitals checking, doctor consultation, and pharmacy support.

Through this camp, 293 community members received free screening, medical guidance, and prescribed medicines, bringing essential care closer to home.

Today, we remember Dr Naseem Salahuddin, a pioneer in infectious diseases in Pakistan.

At SHINE Humanity, her legacy is deeply personal. She was instrumental in establishing our rabies program at the SHINE–Garibsons Clinic in Gharo, Thatta, where she assisted in training our staff and ensuring timely care for patients in rural communities.

Her work continues through every patient reached, every life protected and every healthcare worker equipped to respond with care.

May her legacy continue to guide public health in Pakistan.

Our patient, Farzana Noor, first came to SHINE’s Gharo clinic at risk of acute malnutrition, with a MUAC of 11.8 cm and a weight of 6.7 kg.

Through SHINE’s Malnutrition Program, her caregiver received guidance on feeding practices, meal frequency, affordable nutritious foods, and hygiene at home. With regular follow-ups and consistent support, Farzana began showing steady progress.

Over the course of 5 visits, her MUAC increased to 13 cm and her weight reached 7.3 kg.

Farzana’s journey is a reminder that timely care, caregiver involvement, and close follow-up can make a meaningful difference in a child’s health.

This Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health is not separate from everyday life.

According to research cited in Women’s Mental Health in Pakistan, a community survey found depression and anxiety among 46% of women, compared to 15% of men.

For many rural women, this burden is shaped by the conditions around them. Financial stress, limited mobility, caregiving responsibilities, domestic pressures, stigma, and poor access to mental health care can make emotional distress harder to recognize and even harder to seek help for.

At SHINE Humanity, mental health care is an integral part of our broader commitment to serving underserved communities. Through our Mental Health Program, SHINE focuses on early identification, training healthcare teams, and strengthening access to care where support is needed most.

Health education works best when children can see it, try it, and take it home with them.

As part of SHINE Humanity’s Healthy Schools Initiative, we conducted a Health & Hygiene Session with children in Koohi Goth, Karachi, focused on simple habits that can help prevent illness.

Because when children learn to care for their health early, the impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

SHINE Humanity’s work has grown through one simple belief: healthcare should be accessible to all.

Today, that means we have impacted over 1.8 million lives, reached more than 500,000 rural residents with clean drinking water, conducted over 45,574 medical screenings, trained over 8,000 medical professionals, and distributed over 429,000 food packages.

With your help, our work continues, one community at a time.
