🚨 An Inland Empire man has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in federal prison for the s*x trafficking of two minor victims, ages 13 and 16, across Los Angeles County, including along the Figueroa Corridor.

Beyond the length of the sentence, this ruling reinforces several critical principles for survivor advocates and legal networks:
Targeting Coercion: The federal prosecution highlighted how financial control, isolation, and substance dependency were weaponized to keep minors trapped.
Cross-Agency Accountability: Joint operations between the FBI, LAPD, and federal prosecutors demonstrate the specialized investigation required to dismantle complex trafficking rings.

Restitution & Restoration: In addition to prison time, the court ordered nearly $160,000 in restitution to assist the young survivors on their path to recovery.
For years, the Figueroa Corridor has been an epicenter for commercial s*xual exploitation. While a single conviction cannot erase the systemic conditions that allow trafficking to thrive, this is a crucial turning point.

🚨59 Arrested & Missing Child Recovered in Multi-Agency Operation 🚨
From August 13 through early September 2026, over 20 federal, state, and local agencies, led by the U.S. Marshals Service and West Virginia State Police, executed Operation Coal Country, targeting noncompliant s*x offenders, violent fugitives, and child exploitation suspects across six counties.

Key Results of the Takedown:
59 Total Arrests: Included 16 convicted s*x offenders violating registry laws and 10 individuals charged with new s*x offenses.
Child Recovery: Successfully located a missing child in Wood County following an interstate parental abduction.

Interstate Fugitive Apprehensions: Tracked down a suspect wanted for juvenile s*xual abuse hiding in Arizona and a Florida murder fugitive hiding in West Virginia.
Proactive Enforcement: Conducted 383 s*x offender compliance checks across southern West Virginia to hold offenders accountable.

Protecting youth and combating exploitation requires relentless, multi-agency coordination. Operations like this demonstrate the critical importance of strict law enforcement oversight, cross-state cooperation, and proactive community protection.

🎉 WE DID IT! CALIFORNIA ENDS CHILD MARRIAGE!
After years of advocacy, persistence, and survivor-led action, Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 1267 into law, ending child marriage in California.
18. No Exceptions. ❤️

This is a historic victory and one that has been years in the making.
Since 2017, Global Hope 365 and the California Coalition to End Child Marriage took this fight directly into communities across California, working community byy community, city by city, county by county, and leader by leader to build support for one simple principle:

Children should be protected and not be married.
What began with the first local resolution in Irvine in 2020 grew into resolutions across 16 Orange County cities, two Los Angeles County cities, and Santa Clara County, building momentum that ultimately reached Sacramento.
But above all, this victory belongs to the survivors.
To every survivor who courageously shared their story, every advocate who refused to give up, every elected official who listened and acted, and every community member who stood beside us: THANK YOU.

California has made it clear: ❤️ No marriage under 18. No exceptions.

In a historic move for youth digital safety, Governor Gavin Newsom officially signed a landmark legislative package establishing the strongest online child protections in the United States.

At the center of this new law are major safeguards targeting both social media algorithms and emerging artificial intelligence platforms:
Adam’s Law (SB 1119): Creates the nation's first comprehensive safety framework for AI companion chatbots—requiring independent child safety audits, mandatory parental controls, and real-time crisis intervention protocols for users in distress.
Banning Addictive Features (AB 1709): Prohibits platforms from serving engagement-maximizing features like infinite scrolling, autoplay, and profile-based algorithmic feeds to users under 16.

Fighting Exploitation: Updates state laws to classify AI-generated and digitally altered s*xual depictions of minors as child s*xual abuse material, giving victims strong legal remedies. This sweeping package sets a new national standard: technology must be safe by design.

Sacramento’s Latest Trafficking Crackdown 📢
Cutting off the market for commercial s*x is critical to stopping human trafficking at its source.

In a recent operation by the Sacramento Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, law enforcement shifted focus toward the demand side, resulting in 13 arrests of s*x buyers. Beyond holding buyers accountable, the operation successfully recovered a missing juvenile trafficking victim and connected them with critical support services.

Stopping exploitation requires a multi-front effort: disrupting illicit markets, enforcing strict legal accountability, and supporting survivors with trauma-informed care.

This crucial legislation holds tech companies directly liable for facilitating child abuse, gives survivors the right to seek civil justice, and forces platforms to actively clean up their networks.
Safeguarding children isn't just an offline effort, it requires systemic reform in the digital spaces where youth spend their daily lives.

Policy shifts are quietly threatening protections for the most vulnerable survivors in our immigration system.

According to recent reporting, a federal policy change has altered how cases of human trafficking involving migrant children are reported. Caregivers in federal shelters are no longer instructed to report suspected labor or s*x trafficking directly to anti-trafficking specialists at the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP). Instead, shelter staff are now required to route all claims through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) first, which will decide whether to forward the case.

Why this matters for survivor advocacy:
Direct, timely reporting is critical. By adding administrative hurdles to the victim certification process, we risk:
Delayed Care: Slowing down essential housing, foster placement, and mental health support for minor survivors.
Silencing Victims: Discouraging staff and victims from reporting exploitation due to fear of increased administrative scrutiny.
Increased Risk of Exploitation: Stripping away specialized anti-trafficking oversight leaves children exposed to further harm without proper legal harbor.

What’s next for California’s AB 1267? 🏛️👇
California is one step closer to ending child marriage once and for all.
For years, a legal loop allowed minors under 18 to enter a marriage or domestic partnership with court approval and parental consent. AB 1267 eliminates those exceptions, establishing a firm minimum marriage age of 18.

After passing the State Senate in August 2026 and securing a final 78-0 Assembly vote, the bill was officially delivered to Governor Gavin Newsom's desk on September 3, 2026.
What happens next?

1️⃣ Gavin Newsom's Signature: Governor Newsom has until September 30 to sign the bill into law, veto it, or let it pass without a signature.
2️⃣ Official Enactment: Once signed, the legislation moves toward implementation, setting a major precedent for youth protection and human rights across the state.
3️⃣ Implementation: The total prohibition on minor marriages is scheduled to take full effect on January 1, 2027.
