SARTECH II- what is it and how do I get it?

You start with the Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR) course, which is a 36-40 hour instructional course that is instructor led, either in-person or hybrid, depending on the instructor's choice. There is also a position task book (PTB) for attendance at the course.

SARTECH II is the certification you then tackle. There are a number of pre-requisites, a written 100 randomized question test (online at the NASAR SAR Academy), and practical skills demonstrations that are all checked off in a PTB.

Once all portions are successfully completed, the candidate is granted their SARTECH II, good for 3-years.

Did you know:

NASAR uses standards developed by ASTM, NFPA, DHS, FEMA, and other respected bodies to build education courseware, publications, and certifications.

While NASAR itself isn't a response team, government agencies and non-profit Search and Rescue Teams use our material and certifications, building credentialing programs for their organizations and producing highly skilled searchers working within their communities and are available for mutual aid regionally and nationally.
