ALS United Orange County traveled last week to Capitol Hill to advocate for the ALS community and push critical legislation forward.
We urged Congress to:
Reauthorize the ACT for ALS Act before it expires in 2026

Increase federal funding to accelerate research and find a cure

Improve access to specialized ALS care through the ALS Better Care Act

Support caregivers with meaningful financial and workplace protections

Protect benefits for veterans and their families

Advance research on prevention and environmental risk factors

Strengthen national ALS programs, data, and clinical trial access
Together, We End ALS, more resources, and hope for a world without ALS.

We want to acknowledge and thank the Assisteens of Saddleback Valley and Katie Anderson for all there hard work the past few years.
They show up, work hard with a smile, and never hesitate to help in anyway they can!
ALS United Orange County has called on them for events, mailings, to put together our beautiful annual holiday baskets, and to even roll our featured marathoner a mile in our recent marathon event.
The value they bring is immeasurable. All of these exceptional teens are sure to go far in life. We are so lucky to have them.
Assisteens of Saddleback Valley is an auxiliary of the Assistance League. With 38 current teen members from 7th to 12th grade, Assisteens volunteer with philanthropies such as Project Foster, Zero Trash RSM, The Bradley Rofer Foundation, RAD Camp, Senior Outreach, Operation Baby Love, Vera’s Sanctuary, RSM Cares, and of course, ALS United of Orange County. Assisteens have participated in the Walk to End ALS, ALS Night Walk in San Clemente, the Golf Tournament and the Marathon. Our teens love how their efforts directly benefit those living with ALS in Orange County!

Our Board of Directors isn’t just leadership, it’s heart in action 💙
At ALS United Orange County, every board member is a volunteer, driven by a personal connection to ALS. They give their time, energy, and passion to help move this mission forward and support our community.
We are so grateful for their dedication and commitment to a world without ALS. 💛

Message from our Treasurer, Kelley Haghighi
It has been my honor over many years to participate in the ALS United Orange County board. The board is a dedicated group of 13 people who represent the diversity of Orange County. We work together to ensure the longevity of ALSU OC and support its mission find a cure for ALS, Support the ALS patients and Families while raising awareness of ALS in the community. My dad was diagnosed with ALS in 2015 and although he did not live in California, I felt supported by the OC chapter. For me, support group meetings were a gift which provided me so much information about the journey that my dad was facing. So, as we celebrate Volunteer’s month, I want to give a special thanks you to those board member that I am on this journey with. And I pray that someday there will no longer be a need for our organization because there will be a cure for ALS. In the meantime, we will support the missions of this organization and the families and patients which are impacted by this disease.
