| Interview with Cenia: Centro Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial, the National Center of Artificial Intelligence in Chile.

On the risks of automation in connection to AI:

“While many may lose their jobs, a way to solve that is to understand which are the skills that are irreplaceable. Like confidence, the capacity of having critical thinking... These are the kind of abilities and skills that we should improve inside our workforce instead of training people to make things that machines can do better.

"…The second element that worries me more I think is the risk of alienation. Machines are getting much better at doing a lot of different things…I don’t think that’s a productivity or a work problem. I think it’s much deeper, in the way that we are getting lazier. We can lose some abilities because it’s much easier to ask the machine…We are also losing something: Curiosity, curiosity to know. That’s my biggest fear, not the loss of jobs.”

“The elephant in the room is the consumption of energy of this technology, only for the development and the training of, for example, GPT 3.5…. The energy consumption of this big machine where this modem sleeps is the big issue that no one is talking about. We are trying to talk about that and we have to move to a green AI paradigm.”

| President Luis Lacalle Pou on government leaders and public service:

"How many public servants wake up every day across the country to make things run? How many open a fire station, a court, a police station, a hospital, or a clinic?

"Without diminishing anyone, I proudly say I’ve seen people who do what is required by regulation, who do what their role dictates, but who also do a little more. We all know that doing just what’s required is fine.

"But a community changes, improves, and grows when those who do what they must, decide to do a little more for themselves and their people, for themselves and their town.

"In smaller communities, that becomes evident immediately when there are committed people who care, who know, and who bring love to their tasks."

Energy Poverty Affects women in particular ways. Women in rural areas suffer from contamination inside their homes. Typically, they are the collectors of firewood and in charge of child rearing. Many hours are lost that could be dedicated to personal development, education, micro-entrepreneurship.

In Latin America and the Caribbean today, 17 million people do not have access to electricity and 75 million do not have access to clean cooking technologies and fuels. The impacts are countless, but there is hope.

| “In the Name of the Haitian Government and On My Personal Behalf I commend the determination of the Kenyan Government and its people to support Haiti in the fight against the insecurity that is plaguing our society. The Haitian Government and its people hope that this multinational mission will be the last to help stabilize the country, renew the political personnel, and return to effective democracy. Colombia’s Single-Use Plastics Law | Law 2232 of 2022 mandates the elimination of 21 single-use plastic products.

Starting July 7 2024, the production and sale of eight specific plastic products will cease.

The goal is to completely eliminate all 21 plastic products by 2030:

• Bags used for packing, carrying, or transporting packages and goods, except reusable or industrial-use bags.
• Bags used for packing newspapers, magazines, advertisements, and invoices.
• Bags used in laundries for packing washed clothes.
• Rolls of empty bags in commercial areas for packing, carrying, or transporting packages and goods, or for carrying bulk food, except for raw animal products.
• Plastic stirrers.
• Drinking straws.
• Plastic cotton swab sticks.
• Plastic pump supports.

Colombia recycles 163 thousand tons of plastic materials per year. Cities like Bogotá and Medellín transform 13 thousand tons of plastic waste per month, supported by professional recyclers and a network of approximately 260 processing industries.

| Defiant Mariachis: Mariachi Potosino Exhibits: How Migrants Have Used Music to Defy Subjection by a Dominant Culture

"In a subtle act of defiance, perhaps almost imperceptible, the charro suit gives space for a piece of Mexico to be accessible for migrants who left their home and cannot go back because of their immigration status. Alba’s Mariachi Potosino made this piece of Mexico mobile," describes Marboreth Catano for Latina Republic.
