Our mission is to build literacy, English language, and job readiness skills in central Indiana. Our vision is simple: 100% literacy for all.

Indy Reads is a nonprofit organization that hosts adult education classrooms in Indianapolis. Whether someone is looking to improve their English or wanting to get their high school equivalency diploma, Indy Reads is able to help! Indy Reads also has an independent used bookstore in Fountain Square. All of the proceeds from the bookstore are used to support our adult education classes. Indy Reads' mission is to build literacy, English language, and job readiness skills to empower adults and families to reach their full potential.

💜 Thank you to everyone who joined us for BLEND last Saturday! Whether you helped bring the event to life or stopped by to celebrate, it was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces come together to support literacy in our community.

Interested in volunteering with Indy Reads? Join our in-person info session from 12-1 pm to learn more about ways to get involved and make an impact.

✍️ 10/10 Writing Workshop with Open Mic with Indy Untitled
This poetry workshop/open mic, from 4–7 p.m., is for the timid and confident, the professional and the novice, the performers and the spectators. Our hope is through this event and our collective, we empower all voices to come together.

🗣️ 10/11 English Language Conversation Circles
At 3pm, join us for English Conversation Circles. All levels of English are welcome to learn with us while making new friends.

🗣️ 10/11 Spanish Conversation Circles
Join Indy Reads on the second Sunday of each month at 4pm to practice your Spanish language skills! Our volunteers and students will facilitate fun, easy conversation in our community bookstore during this program.

🎥 10/11 Book to Film Club: Room
Join Kan-Kan, Indy Reads, and Tomorrow Bookstore for a screening of Room, followed by a free book club discussion starting at 4pm. The film follows a young boy who has spent his entire life confined to a room with his mother and has never known the world outside.

There’s still one more day of Week Without Driving!🚲

We joined in by biking from Indy Reads to Calvin Fletcher’s and grabbing the Indy Reads seasonal drink along the way. ☕️

Week Without Driving encourages us to think differently about how we move through our city and the barriers many nondrivers face. If you’re able, try getting around without a car before the week ends.

Marion County residents can also apply for an IndyRides Free pass for unlimited 30-minute Pacers Bikeshare trips. 💜
