It is with incredible sorrow that the Emerald Society was informed of the passing of Charter Member, Union Leader, longtime supporter, and overall great Irish-American Thomas “Tommy” Miller. A second generation IFD fireman, Tommy served 37 on the Indianapolis Fire Dept. He further served as President of the Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana, IAFF 8th District Vice-President, and General Secretary-Treasurer of the IAFF. Tommy was a Charter Member of the Emerald Society in 1994, and showed us continued and invaluable support over the last 32 years. Tommy is the father of current member Joey Miller, Engine 11 B-Shift. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Miller family as we mourn the passing of a devoted husband, father, fireman, and labor leader. We take comfort in knowing that he has been called to his Heavenly Father with a greeting of Céad Míle Fáilte “One Hundred Thousand Welcomes.”
