In two weeks our friends in Portsmouth will be hosting their yearly Hamfest. Just a short drive down the river from Huntington. They will be at a new location and I am told the parking is much better there than the previous location.

The flooding and storm damage in our region is severe in spots. We hope that everyone safely weathered the storms that rolled through our area all day yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with those that have been affected by all of this weather.

We are around a month away from the largest Hamfest in the region. Currently all seventy tables are sold out and have been for awhile. We are working to see if we can fit more and are likely going to have to look into a larger location next year. We will allow people to tailgate or setup a table outside with the price of admission weather permitting. Updates and additional information will be posted on Facebook as we get closer to the event.

Flash flooding will be possible Friday and again Saturday into Sunday morning. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected each day with rounds of heavy rainfall, and possible training showers/storms leading to flash flooding. Southern and central WV are the areas of most concern after previous rounds of heavy rain and flooding events, and as this event lingers longest there this weekend.

I have worked about half of all the stations on FT8 and one on SSB already this morning. I am going to try to work them all on both modes this year. If you have never heard of it head on over to their website and check it out.
