Beyond the Jersey🤘

This week’s student-athlete highlight features Cooper Hinson.

Cooper is from Valrico, FL, and is an upcoming junior on Marshall University’s Baseball team, where he plays in the outfield. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and hopes to continue his baseball career at the professional level before pursuing a career as a patent attorney.

When he’s not on the field or in the classroom, Cooper enjoys playing video games with his friends, spending time with his cat Goose, and making memories with his family in Huntington, which he considers his second home.

“If I could speak to a donor who supports the Big Green, I would let them know how appreciative I am of everything they do for Marshall University, Marshall Athletics, the community as a whole, and all the opportunities they provide. Marshall has been so great to me, and the community has been even better. I consider Huntington a second home for me and my family, and it all starts with the donors backing the Big Green. For all your efforts to push Marshall forward, I thank you.”

Beyond the Jersey🤘

This week’s student-athlete highlight features Lauren Bell.

Lauren is a sophomore from Latrobe, PA, and is a member of Marshall University’s Swimming & Diving team, where she competes in the sprint butterfly and freestyle events. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and plans to continue her education by attending nurse anesthetist school after earning her BSN.

When she's not in the pool or the classroom, Lauren enjoys playing soccer and pickleball, along with spending time with her dog, Cookie.

“I’d first like to thank the Big Green donors. The impact they’ve had on Marshall athletes is immense, and their unwavering support is like no other. They have provided opportunities to open up many doors for all of the athletic programs.”
