"Persia Amarra Conway was loved. Persia Amarra Conway mattered. Persia Amarra Conway deserved to grow old, to chase her dreams, and to live the beautiful life she envisioned for herself."
-Persia's mother, Michelle

Our hearts are broken. Last week, Houston lost Persia Amarra Conway, a 33-year-old transgender woman, far too soon. To those who loved her, she was kind-hearted, funny, fearless, and a light in every room.

Violence against transgender women, especially trans women of color, continues at unacceptable rates, and no one should carry that grief alone. Her mother promised to speak her name. So will we.

We invite you to gather with us to remember Persia.

Today, Tuesday, June 2
Doors open at 6 PM
401 Branard Street, Houston, TX 77006
1st Floor, Rooms 106 & 107

"Persia Amarra Conway fue amada. Persia Amarra Conway importaba.

Our team was able to redistribute 1,900 pairs of socks and assist 92 Houstonians in acquiring a 6-month supply of over-the-counter birth control in one day. When you support The Mahogany Project you are investing in our community, partners, and our greater community impact. Today, we are still trying to raise the $5,000 for the month of May to help us towards our wider fundraising target of $15,000 for our anniversary. Please donate today to help sustain our work and support the upcoming transfer.

With 4 days remaining in the month of May, we're a little under halfway to reaching this month's goal of $5,000. We've raised $2,260, and we truly believe we can reach this month's goal with your support. There isn't a dollar amount too small, and every single dollar helps. You can donate using the information on the slide, the link in our bio, or by heading over to our website, tmphtx.org. We will continue to keep the community updated on our anniversary fundraiser goal. Please keep in mind BINGO is still in effect as well and can be used to generate support.

Nine years of building Beloved Community, and we are still going strong.

The Mahogany Project is celebrating our 9th Anniversary, and we need your support to raise $15,000 over the next 3-months toward finding a new home so we can continue our programming and keep showing up for Black LGBTQIA+ Houstonians.

Join our BINGO Blackout Fundraiser! Here is how to get involved:

1. Screenshot or download the bingo card.
2. Share it with friends, family, and co-workers and ask them to pledge an amount.
3. Collect donations in cash or direct them to give via our website, the link in our bio, or the QR code on the flyer.
4. Add their name to the card and share on social media, tagging us.

Every participant receives a gift. Black out your entire card, and you are entered to win bigger prizes, including Lego sets, Telfar bags, merch, and more. All prizes must be picked up in person.

Help us fill the board. Help us find our home.

May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia!

Since the current administration entered office, discrimination and violence against LGBTQIA+ people have been on the rise, not just here but around the world, as other nations take cues from the erosion of our civil liberties in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Conversion camps are being floated as policy. Nonprofits are being pressured to work against the communities they were built to serve. Religion is being weaponized. Children's futures are being used as bargaining chips in a political game.

We refuse to normalize this.

The work our organization does, day in and day out, is about real people in real time. People who deserve safety, dignity, and belonging. That work depends on community support like yours.

Today we are asking you to take action. Donate to support ongoing programs, volunteer your time and talents, and connect with your local LGBTQIA+ organization. Together we can end the stigma and phobia that harm LGBTQIA+ people worldwide.

Be part of the solution. Link in bio.
