Faith In Practice Our mission is to uplift the lives of the underserved in Guatemala through healthcare and education. Each year, more than 1,500 U.S.

Faith In Practice is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian organization that seeks to improve the physical, spiritual, and economic conditions of the poor in Guatemala through short-term surgical, medical, and dental mission trips and health-related educational programs. We are committed to serving the poor of Guatemala through an integrated approach, striving to reach those in greatest need and emphasizing continuity of care in the context of short-term missions. and international medical professionals and support personnel travel to Guatemala as volunteers with Faith In Practice, generously giving their time, energy and resources to provide desperately needed medical care to the poorest areas of Guatemala. Around 1,000 Guatemalan volunteers work to connect the Faith In Practice teams with areas of the greatest need and assist patients in getting to and from the team medical clinics. Through the commitment of these volunteers, Faith In Practice teams see more than 30,000 patients annually. For the past 15 consecutive years, Faith In Practice has been awarded Four Stars by Charity Navigator, a distinction that highlights the efficiency, transparency, integrity, and compassion of the organization.

Faith to Walk Again 🙏🏼

For 75-year-old Doña Reyes Bautista, joy is cooking for her family, especially making tamales. Her wish was simple: to walk freely and return to the everyday activities she loves.

Life has not been easy. Her husband passed away at just 33, leaving her to raise and provide for their four children. Through years of hardship, her faith remained a source of strength.

With a smile and a laugh, she shared her hope: “God will make me walk again.”

After receiving her first knee surgery, Doña Reyes has now received surgery on her other knee through Faith In Practice. As she stood up, looking forward to leaving her wheelchair behind, she shared what this new beginning meant to her:

“After two years, I will be able to go to church.”

Her words remind us that surgery can mean so much more than physical healing. It can mean returning to worship, preparing a family meal, and reclaiming independence.

Stories like Doña Reyes’s are at the heart of Faith In Practice’s mission reflecting Christ’s love through compassionate care that changes lives. 💙

Every Step brings new Joyđź’™

“Now I can dance and do things by myself.”

With a contagious smile, 70-year-old Aura Luz Cunil whispered these words celebrating the joy of renewed independence.

Her journey with Faith In Practice began in March 2025, when she received surgery on her right knee. This year, she returned for surgery on her other knee, taking another hopeful step toward recovery.

For Aura Luz, the care she has received means more than surgery. It means feeling welcomed, cared for, and at home. Her gratitude reminds us that every patient’s journey is personal and every act of compassion can help someone embrace life’s simple joys again.

Team Askenasy 919 brought their skill, compassion, and hearts for service to Hospital Hilario Galindo, completing 77 surgeries during the week:

• 42 general surgeries
• 1 gynecological surgery
• 34 urological surgeries

The team also served 145 mobility patients, helping open new possibilities for greater independence.

Healthcare reaches farther when many areas of care come together. đź’™ During Johnson II #920, 982 patients were registered and 1,243 office visits provided opportunities to listen, evaluate, and care for patients across multiple specialties.

From general and gynecology care to orthopedics, mobility, VIA, and pediatrics, each clinic addressed different needs within the community. With 328 referrals, many patients were also connected to additional care and services beyond their initial visit.

Behind every number is a person who took a step toward better health. Through comprehensive care, compassionate attention, and meaningful referrals, this mission helped bring essential healthcare closer to the people and families who need it most. 🇬🇹✨
