Today, on World Refugee Day, we celebrate the resilience, creativity, and determination of refugees who have helped shape the vibrant community we serve.

At Fabric Forge, many of our participants come from refugee and immigrant backgrounds, bringing with them incredible skills, experiences, and perspectives. Through workforce training, education, and community connection, we're honored to support individuals as they build new opportunities for themselves and their families.

Every stitch tells a story. Every skill learned represents a step toward greater confidence, independence, and economic opportunity.

Today, we recognize the courage it takes to start over, the strength it takes to persevere, and the many contributions refugees make to our community every day.

Fabric Forge is seeking an Industrial Sewing Instructor for a summer training program designed to help adult immigrants build valuable workforce skills.

We're looking for someone with strong experience using Juki industrial sewing machines, a passion for teaching beginners, and the patience and enthusiasm to help students succeed.

📍 Houston, TX
📅 July 20 – August 27 (Monday–Thursday)
💰 Stipend: $2,500

Congratulations to our newest Industrial Sewing Program graduates! 🎉

A few weeks ago, we wrapped up another 12-week Industrial Sewing Program cohort, and we're incredibly proud of everything these participants accomplished.

This cohort completed hands-on industrial sewing training alongside embedded ESL and digital literacy classes, gaining practical skills that can translate directly into employment opportunities, career advancement, and greater confidence in everyday life.

At Fabric Forge, we believe workforce development should meet people where they are. That's why we pair technical training with language learning, digital skills, and free onsite childcare, removing barriers and creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.

This was our third cohort to complete the program in our new home at Connect Highstar, and every graduation reminds us why this work matters. When people have access to the right tools, support, and opportunities, they can build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

⭐️ Camp Creativity in Full Swing! ⭐️

Our first week of Summer Camp is officially in the books, and these talented high school makers stitched up something truly stellar! 🌟

Students spent the week learning foundational sewing skills, building confidence behind the machine, and bringing their creativity to life through the cutest star pillows. From selecting fabrics to mastering new techniques, they did an incredible job turning ideas into finished projects they can be proud of.

We love seeing young creators discover new skills, express themselves through design, and realize what they're capable of making with their own hands.

This summer, give your rising 6th–8th grader the chance to learn new skills, make something with their own hands, and bring their ideas to life at Fabric Forge's Creative Studio & Design Camp.

Whether they're brand new to sewing or already love to create, all skill levels are welcome! Campers will learn foundational sewing techniques, explore a variety of materials, and strengthen their creative thinking through fun, hands-on projects.

Here's what they might make:

🎨 Summer camps at Fabric Forge are filling up fast!

Our High School camps are officially sold out, but we still have a few spots left in select sessions:

Middle School Camp (Rising 6th–8th Grade)
June 8th - 12th

Elementary School Camp (Rising 3rd–5th Grade)
Weeks of June 15th & July 13th

If your child loves to create, design, sew, or just try something new this summer, this is such a fun opportunity to learn hands-on skills in a welcoming, creative environment.

Campers will spend the week making projects, learning new techniques, building confidence, and bringing their ideas to life alongside experienced instructors and other young creators.

What a day at Good Finds Market! 💛

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our local vendors, makers, and creatives at Fabric Forge. We had an incredible turnout, and our community showed up ready to shop small, connect, and celebrate local talent. 🛍️✨

From handmade goods and artisan finds to fabric treasures and creative crafts, the market was full of energy, creativity, and community spirit. We especially loved seeing kids enjoying the craft activities and families spending time together exploring everything the market had to offer.

A huge thank you to all of our amazing vendors, volunteers, and attendees for making this event such a success. Events like these are what community is all about. Supporting one another, creating together, and building something meaningful right here in Gulfton and Sharpstown.

We can’t wait to do it again. 💫
