💚NO PAWS LEFT BEHIND. Not just a slogan. A promise. 💚
At Seuk’s Army, we live by our tagline, “No paws left behind.” For us, it’s not just words. It’s a promise we make to every dog, every single day.
So when our rescue partner, Leah Orr, was notified about a senior dog who had been dropped off at a shelter in Northern Florida, she knew she had to act, and fast. Sadly, senior dogs are often among the first to be euthanized in overcrowded shelters.
But when Leah arrived, there were now TWO senior dogs in need. And, well, you know how this story goes. No dogs left behind. Both dogs headed back to her rescue organization.
When we heard about Wren, we immediately sprang into action. We were already preparing for our largest transport yet on August 2, but there's always room for one more, right?
Wren's journey to Virginia was far from easy. Due to weather complications and grounded planes, she spent 14 HOURS in a transport van alongside a van full of other dogs.
And when she finally arrived? Despite her achy, older legs, Wren stepped out, took in that Virginia air, and greeted everyone as if she hadn't a care in the world. ❤️
Our team immediately went to work, finding her a place to stay that night. It didn't take long for Ken Pezzella to look into those beautiful eyes and say, "I'll take her."
And just like that, Wren had a soft place to land.
Over the next several weeks, Wren and Ken, along with his dog Misty, settled into a wonderful routine. Wren gained some much-needed weight, rebuilt her strength with lovely walks through Virginia's Shenandoah area, and blossomed in her new surroundings.
But the story wasn't over.
Within about six weeks, Rebecca Precious, working with our rescue partner Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley helped make the next chapter of Wren's life possible. The perfect adopter had found her!
Putting Wren on that plane Thursday, alongside the amazing pilot Chris Moon, was one of the hardest parts of this journey. How could anyone not fall in love with that face? ❤️
Goodbyes are never easy, especially when you've watched a dog come so far. But Ken knew something important: Wren was heading to a loving home where she would be cherished.
And Ken? He knew his home and heart would soon make room for another dog who needed exactly what he had given Wren: a chance.
And THAT is what rescue is all about.
It's about the people who step up when others walk away. The ones who open their homes, give their time, make the difficult goodbyes, and keep going because somewhere out there is another dog who needs them.
Wren's story is a reminder that age should never determine a dog's worth, and that sometimes, all it takes is one person willing to say, "I'll take her."
At Seuk's Army, we believe every dog deserves that chance.
No dogs left behind. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever. ❤️🐾
