Join Hickory City Schools in congratulating Parents as Teachers of Catawba County on earning Blue Ribbon Affiliate status—the highest recognition Parents as Teachers awards for quality and fidelity to its model!

Behind this national recognition is a caring team that works alongside families to help our youngest community members learn and grow.

What is Parents as Teachers? It’s an early childhood home visiting program that supports parents and caregivers as their children’s first teachers. Through personalized home visits, group gatherings, developmental screenings and connections to community resources, parent educators help families understand their children’s development, support learning at home and prepare for school.

Their work also helps parents connect with one another and find support when they need it. The final review praised the team’s thoughtful, individualized visits and its follow-through in helping families access community resources.

To our Parents as Teachers team: Thank you for the care, encouragement, and expertise you bring to families across Catawba County. We are proud to celebrate this well-earned recognition with you!
