Recently, WTZQ’s own Mark Warwick interviewed Hope Coalition's Mark Palinski about The Hope Coalition’s Bridge program as part of the station’s Local Focus segment highlighting nonprofit programs. Launched in November, the program is now in its seventh month serving individuals in the PATHs unit (Psychiatric and Addictions Therapeutic Healing Services).
During the interview, Mark discussed the importance of providing real-life peer support to individuals preparing to leave the unit. He shared how the Bridge program works directly within the PATHs unit to help reduce recidivism and overdoses by connecting individuals with support, resources, and guidance as they transition back into the community.
The conversation also highlighted the value of meeting individuals where they are, building trust through lived experience, reducing stigma and helping create stronger pathways toward long-term recovery and stability after discharge.
