Hope Coalition's mission is dedicated to preventing substance use among youth and focusing on long-term recovery for anyone impacted by alcohol and drug addiction. Established in 2013 as a community collaborative effort, we work with local law enforcement, public schools, healthcare organizations and other community organizations to effect change. Our programs include drug take-back events, Handle With Care, Week of Hope with Henderson County Public Schools, and a variety of peer support recovery groups for adults, youth, parents and families.

Hope Coalition’s Director, Julie Huneycutt, had the opportunity to return to Hendersonville High School this week, where she once taught and where her daughter, Anna, attended school.

After Anna’s life was tragically lost to substance use, Julie found purpose in helping prevent other families from experiencing a similar loss through the establishment of Hope Coalition.

The school’s history department welcomed local nonprofits and businesses that promote community involvement and volunteering, seeking to highlight former Bearcats who are working to make lasting impact in Henderson County. We are grateful and honored that Hope Coalition was invited to share.

We are thankful for every opportunity to educate, raise awareness, break the stigma surrounding addiction, and remind young people that hope and recovery are possible 💛💚

is an annual substance use prevention and awareness initiative organized by Hope Coalition in partnership with Henderson County Public Schools. Taking place November 9–13, the week will culminate on November 13 at the Historic Hendersonville County Courthouse, where student-signed banners will celebrate their commitment to living substance-free.
