Activities to Keep Your Mind Engaged
Thriving Cognitively as We Age
5 – 6:30 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2026
Contact SIG Program Coordinator Jan Nickerson by June 21 to register for in-person attendance and by June 28 to register for Zoom attendance.
What truly helps our brains stay healthy and engaged as we age—and what actually makes a difference? In this interactive session, Elizabeth Williams will explore research-based strategies that support cognitive health, emotional well-being, and purpose in later life. Participants will learn about the role of physical activity, cognitive activities, and how purposeful engagement supports both brain body and spirit.
Drawing on recent research and national conversations—including last year's U.S. Surgeon General’s call to address social isolation as a public health issue—this program will highlight how connection, curiosity, and shared activities help keep our minds engaged. The session will include discussion and participant interaction. Participants may even discover shared interests that lead to continued connection beyond the program.
