A visible sign of progress is now on display in Boston's Longwood Medical Area.
Earlier this spring, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center officially began the construction process for the region's only dedicated adult inpatient cancer hospital. Recent images from the project site offer a glimpse of what is taking shape through the Dana-Farber Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Collaboration.
First announced in 2023, the new facility will include 300 inpatient beds and approximately 450,000 square feet of clinical space across 10 floors. Scheduled to open in 2031, the hospital will expand inpatient oncology capacity while supporting coordinated care across Dana-Farber, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians.
The project represents a significant long-term investment in oncology infrastructure at one of the nation's leading cancer centers.
