Keck Medicine of USC/ USC Norris Cancer Hospital is seeking an experienced oncology nursing leader to serve as Senior Director, Cellular and Advanced Therapies in Los Angeles.

This senior enterprise role will provide strategic and operational leadership for cellular and advanced therapy services, including bone marrow transplant, advanced cellular therapy, immune effector cell therapy, and gene therapy. The Senior Director will work across clinical and administrative leadership to establish long-term priorities, expand patient access, maintain accreditation standards, and align the service line across Keck Medicine locations.

Ideal candidates bring:

✅ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and an active California RN license; master’s degree and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse credential preferred
✅ Five years of bone marrow transplant and/or cellular therapy experience, five years of nursing experience, and seven years of progressive management experience
✅ Experience leading complex programs and collaborating across multidisciplinary clinical, operational, and administrative teams

For three days each year, the ACE Annual Meeting creates a concentrated gathering of oncology executives whose work spans the operational and administrative leadership of cancer programs.

In Palm Springs, that time together extended well beyond the formal program, with conversations continuing between sessions, longtime peers reconnecting, and new professional relationships taking shape throughout .

On 9–10 October, will bring multidisciplinary experts together to develop ESTRO-endorsed recommendations on the integration of radiotherapy with new systemic treatments.

Important information can be documented in the EMR and still be difficult for oncology teams to see when they need it.

In the latest ACE Update, OncoLens explores how an academic comprehensive cancer center used real-time analytics to surface clinical information buried in narrative notes, pathology reports, referrals, and other unstructured data.

Nearly 88% of actionable data points analyzed came from unstructured sources that standard EMR reports could not surface. With greater visibility, registry case-finding moved from a 6–12 month lag to real time, while teams shifted time previously spent searching for information toward patient follow-up and quality improvement.

For nearly a decade, the Marsha Fountain Award for Excellence in Oncology Administration has recognized experienced oncology administrators for their contributions to the field and to the Association of Cancer Executives.

Past recipients include Joel Helmke, Dave Gosky, Kelley Simpson, Cynthia Powers, Susan Brown, Wendy Austin, William Laffey, and Nancy Bookbinder, each adding their name to an award created in honor of ACE’s first President and pioneering cancer center administrator, Marsha Fountain.

Now, nominations are open for the next recipient.

For ACE’s inaugural 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿, four members shared approaches being put into practice within their organizations.

Kimberly Smith, MPA, FACHE, spoke to the culture her team has built and the importance of continuing to “grow our own talent.” Debbie Fernandez shared how she intentionally assigns stretch tasks and projects that build on individual skill sets, pairing them with coaching and positive reinforcement. Jenny Scott pointed to flexible work arrangements, professional development, and periodic “culture checks” with staff. For Marcy Cent, “our culture is truly our greatest asset” in both recruitment and retention.

City of Hope announced that Wafa Samara, Pharm.D., was named to Becker's Healthcare 101 Hospital and Health System Chief Pharmacy Officers to Know list.

In sharing the news, City of Hope highlighted Wafa's leadership across its national cancer network and her commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and expanding equitable access to advanced cancer care.

Reflecting on the honor, Wafa shared that it was "both humbling and inspiring" to be recognized alongside such an incredible group of pharmacy leaders.
