🌲 Introducing NextGen

For generations, The Bishop's Ranch has shaped lives, fostered lifelong friendships, and welcomed people home. Now it's time to help the next generation find one another.

NextGen is a community for young adults (roughly ages 21–35) who share a connection to The Bishop's Ranch. Whether you found The Ranch through camp, a retreat, volunteering, serving on staff, or another meaningful experience, NextGen is a place to build friendships with others who love The Ranch, stay connected throughout the year, and continue making memories together.

Our vision is simple: to create a vibrant community that gathers for meetups, retreats, service projects, volunteer opportunities, and special events. A community that encourages one another, celebrates together, and remains connected to a place that has meant so much to so many.

The rings of a tree remind us that healthy growth doesn't replace what came before. It grows because of it. Each new ring surrounds the ones before it, adding another year of strength, another layer of story, and another season of growth. That's our hope for NextGen: to add our own ring to the living story of The Bishop's Ranch, building friendships that strengthen one another while helping The Ranch continue to thrive for generations to come.

We already have a wonderful core group of young adults involved, but we know there are many more of you out there.

If you're between 21 and 35 and The Bishop's Ranch has been part of your story, we'd love to find you.

Please take a minute to complete the short survey linked here. Your responses will help us find our community, learn how you'd like to stay connected, and begin planning gatherings and opportunities that reflect what NextGen wants to become.

If you're part of the wider Ranch community, we'd love your help, too. Share this post or tag someone who belongs in NextGen. We'd love to find them.

For Chubby Plumpkins:

She wore midnight like it was tailored,
iridescent in the light,
feathers catching a brilliant shimmer
as if she carried her own atmosphere.

Chubby Plumpkins.
Name: charming.
Reputation: formidable.

Matriarch of many flocks—
then just her and her BFF, Muffy,
ruling side by side
like they had drawn the map themselves.

Then, just Chubby,
holding the whole place together
with attitude and a highly effective glare.

And finally, the five—
a last flock, gifted and green.
She trained them well,
tolerated them…selectively,
and made it clear who was Head Hen.

She knocked on the Refectory doors
with the confident peck, peck, peck
of someone who had never once been ignored.

Guests adored her.
Cookies feared her.
Picnic tables were simply
elevated opportunities.

She outlasted fires, foxes, coyotes, and dogs—
a survival record that reads less like luck
and more like strategy.

Seven, maybe eight years?
Steady, unapologetic rule.

And now, things feel…slightly less in order.

Legends don’t die, they become part of the story.
And let’s be honest:
we’re all just doing our best to run things
half as well as she did.

❤️💔
RIP Chubby. You were well-loved.

Sun, color, and a joy in the air!

Tie-dye drying in the breeze, dibble in the pool, hikes that turn into adventures, and friends that stick long after the week ends. BREAD Camp is where kids get creative, try new things, laugh a lot, and maybe discover a little something about themselves along the way.

Campfires, night swims, games, art, wide open space… and just enough wonder to make them wish it lasted longer!

Weeklong Overnight Camps for kids in grades 4th - Just Graduated and a week of Generations Camp, for the whole family! Check out the options at bishopsranch.org/experiences/summer-camp
