🌱Here’s the details on the upcoming environmental projects
1. Earth Day Russian River Cleanup to be hosted by the Russian Riverkeeper on Wednesday, April 22, from 10 am to 12 noon at Riverkeeper Park (16153 Main Street) in Guerneville. The details and sign-up form, including waivers, are available at https://russianriverkeeper.org/events/earthday/. Don Anderson will coordinate carpooling. Let’s be kind to Mother Earth on this day by cleaning the river banks and preventing trash from entering and polluting the ocean.
2. Wildfire Resilience Stewardship Day at Riddell Preserve to be hosted by LandPaths on Thursday, April 30, from 9 am to 3 pm. This is part of our work for the District Grant that we received. We will meet at the City of Healdsburg Corporation Yard at 550 Westside Road. Details and sign-up form, including waivers, are available at https://landpaths.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/landpaths/event.jsp?event=30692&. Let’s help LandPaths work towards eliminating the invasive French Broom and making this beautiful 400-acre preserve more wildfire resilient. We will likely be burning piles of ladder fuel and/or the prescribed burn (Good Fire) of built-up debris and smaller French Broom.
3. Arundo donax Removal Day on Saturday, May 9, from 8:45 am until 12 noon, at Badger Park (750 Heron Drive) in Healdsburg. Details of the event and the sign-up form, including waivers, are available at https://russianriverkeeperorg/events/rotarybadgerpark/. Let’s help Russian Riverkeeper eliminate this non-native, invasive reed that is displacing the native riparian flora along the Russian River.
In addition, those of you who signed up on an on-call list last year to help harvest and plant vegetables at the local organic farms in Healdsburg managed by Farm to Fight Hunger and Zeke Guzman, local farmer, will likely get notices to help plant tomatoes, peppers, chilis and other vegetables on short notice.
