FRIDAYS & SATURDAYS!

Donations may now be dropped off at the Healdsburg Library
EVERY FRIDAY & SATURDAY
10 am to 5 pm

No waiting! Just place them in our wagon parked just inside the North library entrance

Please leave items in good condition only:

Books of all categories (see exceptions below)

Commercially issued CDs and DVDs

Jigsaw puzzles with all pieces

Magazines published in the last 6 months

Please do not leave:

Items that are damaged, soiled, stained, torn, musty or smoky

Books that are excessively underlined or highlighted

Encyclopedias, dictionaries and spiral bound books

VHS, Cassettes and 8-track tapes

Banned Books Week is October 4 -10, but at Sonoma County Library, the conversation doesn’t stop there.

Throughout October, we’re celebrating the freedom to read and exploring why intellectual freedom and access to diverse stories, perspectives, and ideas matter.

A book can introduce us to a new idea. A different life. A piece of history. A story that makes us laugh, challenges what we think, or helps someone feel seen.

Different stories. Different readers. Room for everyone.

There’s only one way to discover what a book has to say: Let it be read.

Join Sonoma County Library throughout October as we celebrate the freedom to read.

BOOK & MEDIA DONATIONS CHANGE:
Starting Friday 2 October 2026

FoHL is moving to two unattended donation days:

• Days: Friday and Saturday
• Time: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Location: Our trusty wagon parked just inside the north entrance

We accept (in LIKE-NEW or good condition):
• Recently released titles of all categories-scholarly, and fine arts titles are especially appreciated.
• Books (general paperback and hardcover); fiction published within the last 10 years.
• Classic fiction (Austen, Dickens, Hemingway, Bronte, etc.)
• Health/Diet books published within the last three years.
• Business/Computer Books published within the last three years.
• CDs, DVDs (commercially prepared).
• Magazines in good condition, 6 months old or newer.
• Textbooks (published in the last 5 years) may be considered.
New: We now accept jigsaw puzzles that have all their pieces. Please secure the box to prevent spilling.
We do not accept:
• Items that are damaged, soiled, stained, torn, musty, or smoky.
• Books that are excessively underlined or highlighted. Inscription on the title page is OK.
• Encyclopedias, dictionaries, spiral bound books.
• Reader's Digest Condensed Versions, Time/Life, Great Books
• VHS, cassettes, and 8-track tapes
Please recycle non-saleable paperback books in your home personal blue (Recology) bins. Most hardcover books can only be recycled if their covers have been removed. Recology will answer any questions you may have about specifically what can be recycled: 800-243-0291
