Back-to-school fun isn’t just for the big kids! This fall, Abilis is offering five fun Parent/Child Classes designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers — and their favorite grown-ups — at The Therapy Center at Abilis. Classes include:

🎶 Move and Groove: Mondays, 10:45-11:30 a.m. - for walkers to age 3
🐥 Little Movers: Tuesdays, 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. - crawling to early walking
👶 Baby and Me: Tuesdays, 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. - Ages 0 to crawling
📚 Sensory Storytime: Wednesdays, 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. - Birth to 5 yrs
🍽️ Messy Plate Club: Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Ages 2-5 yrs

Thanks to a grant from the New Canaan Community Foundation we can expand our Employment Program, helping our community members find jobs.

🤝 Our employment program creates customized career plans for individuals to identify their interests, and each person is provided with the coaching needed to help them advance in their area of interest.

🩵 Abilis maintains a commitment to focus on building more training opportunities for our community members, and we’re grateful for this support and excited for what’s ahead.

🎉 Congratulations to our 4th Pathway to Employment cohort on the successful completion of their internships! 👏

Through a collaboration with the YWCA Greenwich and the Employment Services Department of , Pathway to Employment provides hands-on vocational training and personalized mentorship to help participants develop the skills they need for independence and long-term workplace success.

💙 The Abilis STeP Program offers several social groups that bring together non-speakers and minimal speakers who use typing to communicate about a variety of topics, participate in activities and build friendships.

Last week, our Friendship in Action typing group and staff met at Tod’s Point for a fun day at the beach - swimming, walking and enjoying the beautiful scenery together. 🌊☀️

Our social groups are a wonderful way for those who have learned to type to express themselves to connect with others and have fun!

🫶 We are honored to receive a grant from the City of Stamford Government and the Mayor’s Community Micro-Grant Program, to support our Activities Program.

This investment will help us reduce what we charge, add more activities, and allow more individuals to participate. These funds will allow us to continue offering programs that range from weekly art, music and cooking classes to theater, dancing and other social gatherings.
