WHAT. A. DAY. 😵‍💫

Rollercoaster doesn’t even begin to cover it.

So many ups. So many downs. So many plot twists that we officially have rescue whiplash.

But before we close out this very, very long day, we’re going to focus on the GOOD:

Look at who we SAVED today. 🥹🐾❤️

Every single one of these lives took teamwork. Phone calls. Messages. Transport. Fosters stepping up. Volunteers scrambling. Plans changing approximately 47 times. And a whole lot of serious hard work happening behind the scenes that most people never see.

Rescue is messy. It’s exhausting. Some days, like today, it absolutely breaks your heart.

But today, these babies are safe.

And THAT is how we’re choosing to end the day. ❤️

This s**t has GOT to stop.

There are no words to accurately convey the anger we feel rounding out this extremely emotional day. This Monday started with loosing Sweet Treat. Then dozens on dozens of intake requests from desperate shelters trying to move dogs before they are euthanized. Then dozens and dozens of owners emailing because they “unfortunately don’t have time for their dog anymore”

AND. THEN. THIS.

One of our volunteers got a call from her incredible vet desperately hoping we could help these two dogs. Their “owners” claimed they wouldn’t eat anything…spoiler alert, that’s absolute horse s**t.

They were brought in to be euthanized and luckily enough people stepped in and a foster said “yes” so these girls are safe but by no means are they out of the woods. They are anemic, have huge parasitic loads, one has heartworms, and they are COVERED in fleas. COVERED.

We signed up to save animals but we know we speak for all rescues when we say this is 100% unacceptable and absolutely infuriating. How can you look at an animal that looks like this every single day and just keep it movin? It’s so heartless it makes us want to scream. It seems like every time we pick up one piece, another piece shatters into a million devastating fragments.

Animal control is involved and we are doing everything in our power to make sure these two sweet souls get justice for the horrors and abuse they have clearly endured.

And then… another one joined the rescue. 🤍🐾

Because rescue doesn’t stop, even on the hard days.

This absolutely gorgeous 8-month-old Lab found her way to Lucky Pup today, and just like that, there’s another little life depending on us. 🥹

We don’t know much about her story yet, but we do know this:

She’s safe. She’s a Lucky Pup. And her story starts now. 🍀

💔 The saddest part of rescue is sometimes loving them enough to let them go.

Today, we had to say goodbye to our Sweet Treat. 🌈🐾

Her body was failing her, and we learned that she was much older than originally estimated. After consulting with two different veterinarians, it became clear that the kindest, most loving gift we could give her was a peaceful, dignified goodbye.

We may have only had Sweet Treat for a week, but she mattered. She was loved. And she knew it. 🤍

Her incredible foster mom, Taylor, gave her absolutely everything she could have asked for during that short time — comfort, safety, kindness, and most importantly, love. We are endlessly thankful for the care and devotion Taylor gave this precious old girl when she needed it most.

Sometimes rescue isn’t about giving them years.

Sometimes it’s about making sure their last days are their best days.

🐾 BUCKET 🪣🤎

Yes, his name is Bucket. No, we will not be taking questions at this time. 😂

Buck is a 7-month-old, 63-lb German Shepherd mix with approximately 87 lbs of personality packed into his current 63-lb body.

This boy is the LIFE. OF. THE. PARTY. 🎉 He loves other dogs, squeaky toys, tug-of-war, snacks, snuggles, and generally being involved in absolutely everything you’re doing.

Bucket is crate trained, potty trained, working on perfecting his leash manners, and learning that “but I’m a German Shepherd and I have opinions” is not actually a valid excuse. 😂 He’s smart, stubborn, hilarious, affectionate, and picking up manners quickly.

Meet Chrusciki🤎🥐

Five months old, professionally adorable, and already VERY skilled at the head tilt that makes you immediately hand over your snacks, your couch, and the deed to your house.

20-week-old mixed breed • 16 lbs • Available! 🎉

Peggy is sweet, snuggly, playful and happiest curled up on the couch or in your lap. 🥹 She loves other dogs, is great with kids, rides like a champ in the car, and is doing great with crate, potty & leash training!

She also LOVES water and recently aced her first groomer visit. 💦👏
