NEED: Vinyl flooring so 8yr old quadriplegic can get around house
NOMINATED BY: Family Friend
"I would like to nominate an eight yrs old girl who is quadriplegic. She was born half of a set of twins. She has had many struggles she has been thru in her short life. She has three sisters and two brothers. One of which is also a special needs child who is nine yrs old with his own issues. They were both adopted into this family that I am proud to call my friends. The situation they have is They really need vinyl flooring installed into their home. They don't have the funds to for this. She has equipment that she can't use because she doesn't have the strength to to push it on carpet. Therefore it just sits not getting used. If we could get some vinyl flooring installed in all the rooms she could use her stander and other equipment to gain some freedom to go from room to room. She is such a ill life warrior. She has come such a long way in her short life. I pray you can help with this situation. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time. The need is approximately 1100 sq feet"

NEED: Help with braces for a teenager struggling to finish school with no parents.
NOMINATED BY: Caring Greenvillian
"I have been helping a young women that is a high school senior. We will call her "J". She has been through so much during her time on earth. She has a 3.29 GPA, she is an upbeat happy young women, she asks for nothing. “J” will qualify for the Life scholarship and dreams about being a teacher. Her mother and father divorced when she was two. She doesn’t have any memories of her mother from then. "J" was mistreated so badly in her fathers home she had to move out and move in with a friend. We have borrowed a car so "J" can go back and forth to work, she works hard and is saving her money so she can get a car of her own, she knows the borrowed car will have to go back one day. Her father and step mother do not help her in any way, financially or emotionally: she never sees her real mother. As I mentioned “J” doesn’t ask for anything, however her teeth are in really bad shape, you can see that in her guarded smile. I have spoken with an orthodontist in Clemson, Mark McInnis, he has offered to take 20% off of the total amount leaving approx. $4760.00 due. She might need 4 teeth pulled by McInnis wants to wait to see if he can get them moved with the braces. When I took her for a consultation she told the orthodontist, “ I would wear a head band to school every day if I need to! To meet “J” is to love her."
Any donations will be greatly appreciated and can be made to: WOULD WE HAVE DONATIONS SENT TO YOU AND THEN THE ORTHO OR DENTIST? Or, if you know of a dentist who would donate these services that would be an amazing act of kindness invested in a wonderful young soul who is in a very sad situation.
"J" is on medicaid and gets free lunch at school. I am nominating her because she needs a chance at life, she needs to know that there are people that actually care. Could you imagine not getting as much as a card on Christmas or your birthday from your parents? Could you imagine that they live 15 minutes down the road and don’t want to see you, they don’t call, they don’t ask you if you are doing ok, they don’t ask you if you are hungry, or if you need a winter coat?

NEED: Bathroom Handicap Renovation
NOMINATED BY: Wife
"My husband was in a motor cycle accident July 4th. I was 7 months pregnant at the time of the accident. Our son was born 09/10. We also have two daughters 15 years old and 7 years old. My husband is paralyzed from the chest down, has short term memory loss. He came home on 9/30/2014. We have one bath room that is not currently modified. He has not had a shower since 9/30/2914. We also have no way to travel as a family and my husband can not be left alone so the entire family is currently home bond. He had been approved for disability however disability States that he has to be disabled for 5 months before he can start getting disability. He now has medicaid and will receive in home assistance through HASCI, but it is going at least 30 to 60 days before he will get in home care. The one thing he wishes for is a bathroom built on to room so he can take a shower. Our childrens wish is that we can go places as a family, in order to do that we would need a wheelchair(powerchair) van. Thank you allowing us to share our story and our needs. Our family is in need of help and would be forever grateful for any help. I cry when I take a shower because I know my husband has no way to have a shower right now and it brakes my heart."

NEED: Washer and Dryer and/or assistance with Christmas presents for children
NOMINATED BY: Mother
My son lives alone aside from his caregiver that comes to help with him for three hours a day, Monday through Friday. He has had serious health issues from multiple sclerosis that limit his mobility, and sight and leave him almost completely confined to his home. Couple this with the fact that he has two children, who are 15 and 11 years old, that love him very much. He was looking forward to purchasing Christmas gifts for them considering the two children don't live with him, and he only has the chance to see them once every week for an hour at a time, and yet his small monthly disability stipend doesn't really allow for this due to all of his expenses, both medical and financial. He is currently not receiving any assistance aside from his monthly disability check. Michael is also in dire need of a new washing and drying machine set, since his old ones are in disrepair. This would assist in cutting the cost of his monthly electricity bill as well as allow for his caregiver to better see to Michael's needs. I'm making this nomination because I feel that my son is in a difficult situation in terms of finances and because of this he can't afford certain appliances such as the aforementioned ones.
