Our adoption range is North and South Carolina and most of Virginia. Hart-2-Heart Rescue is a non-profit organization formed to rescue small mixed-breed and purebred dogs who would otherwise fall between the cracks. Our focus is to provide a happy future for our foster dogs, to guarantee the care and support needed to ensure their full health of both mind and body. Everything we do is driven by th

e passionate belief that we can improve life for the dogs in our care regardless of their background, whether they are strays, abandoned, from puppy mills or shelters, or victims of unavoidable life circumstances. Hart-2-Heart Rescue was established by long-time friends whose paths converged in the 1990’s. With complimentary skill sets and years of pet ownership, breed knowledge, training and behavioral expertise, and rescue experience, Jennifer and Judy joined forces to develop the model of home-fostered dogs. Hart-2-Heart Rescue was born of a dream and a sense of social responsibility to ensure that the foster dogs in our care are provided with necessary medical, social and life skills that will enable them to develop to their full potential. Joined by a group of dedicated volunteers, Hart-2-Heart’s goal is to successfully match each dog with the right family as well as to match each family with the right dog. Our volunteers give freely of their time, resources and love to provide an in-home experience for each of our foster dogs. Our rescues live as an integrated member of our families in our homes, where they’re taught the skills and joys of daily living. We ensure that adoptions are for life by determining a suitable match and by providing on-going support to adoptive families. Hart-2-Heart Rescue is an all-volunteer charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Greensboro, North Carolina. We do not have a physical shelter because our adoptable dogs live in foster homes. Our dream is to help dogs find the right home and bring joy to the people who adopt them; our expertise is in doing so.

We’re told that Teddy Joe is a Peke-a-Pom mix. He weighs 6 lbs now so he'll probably be less than 15 lbs when he's full grown. He’s had two sets of shots and he’s ready for adoption, and we will neuter him when he is older.

Teddy Joe came from a backyard breeder so he hadn’t been properly socialized. He is initially nervous and slightly sound sensitive, but he should be able to overcome these concerns in the right environment. Teddy Joe is crate trained and sleeps through the night, but not yet house trained (although he's learning the routine quickly), and he has not yet been on a leash.

He's all puppy so he does the typical puppy things like chewing, and it’s kind of like having a toddler in the house.

If you're interested in adopting Teddy Joe, please email us at [email protected]. A fenced yard is required and our adoption range is North and South Carolina, Virginia, DC and Southern Maryland area, and Eastern Tennessee.

Chip is all terrier and an active and athletic little guy who LOVES toys. He’s quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage a young dog and around outside doorways.

He’s 2-3 years old and weighs 10 pounds, he doesn’t mind being crated, and he’s good at entertaining himself with toys. Like most terriers, he’ll bark when there is something to bark about. He’d be a great candidate for someone who wants to do clicker training.

Chase came to us as a breeder-release dog, having never lived in a home as someone’s beloved pet. He was a little reserved in the beginning, but since adjusting to his foster family, he’s really come to life. Turns out he’s a fantastic cuddler so he’s the perfect lap buddy!

Chase is smart and curious. He’s always smiling and gets excited when you talk or play chase with him, and he loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home. We require his adoptive home to have another small social dog under 12lbs so he can continue to watch and learn from another dog in the home.

Jess lost her 14 year old rescue Pekingese, Mushi, a few months ago. She realized quickly that she was missing the companionship of a Pekingese and knew she had a wonderful life to offer. She found Marley on Petfinder, read his bio, and felt like they would complete each other. ❤️🐾❤️

If you ever thought to yourself, I’d love to have a dog who acts like a cat, Rosie is your girl! She’s content to lie near you on the couch; however, she is not a lap dog. She will lay at the foot of the bed, on the second pillow or peacefully in her crate at night. Her favorite toy is a Nyla bone and the occasional piece of crushed ice. She is proudly not a high-maintenance pup.

Rosie came from a hoarding situation with over 29 dogs in the home, hence unique personality. Rosie really watches and learns from the dogs in her foster home. Her adoptive home should preferably have another small social dog not larger than 15 pounds. Rosie has good energy with other dogs and oftentimes gets in the dog beds or an open crate with them. She looks to the other dogs to see how they react when experiencing something new.

Rosie will be cautious around new people, especially men, so it will take time for her to warm up. We are asking for an all-female home for Rosie. During her time with us she has shown she only responds to women…she will not go out the door with a man to go potty. Let’s get real, that would make it super hard for your male family member or friend to help you if you, the female, are not home.

Rosie is crate trained and doing very well with house training and leash walking; in fact, she looks forward to her daily walks. We require a securely fenced yard for Rosie so she can have the opportunity to be safely supervised in her own yard, plus a fenced yard helps with housetraining and most importantly it is an added layer of safety, because Rosie is quick! The first few months in her foster home Rosie tended to run away when scared instead of to her foster mom. That’s the breeder pup in her.

HAPPY TAILS! 🐾❤️

Sometimes the best things in life take time—and for sweet Ga-leanda (affectionately known as GiGi by her foster family), patience paid off in the best possible way!

GiGi’s story began with a heartbreaking loss. When her original owner became critically ill and unexpectedly passed away at a very young age, her final act of love was reaching out to Hart-2-Heart Rescue from her hospital bed to ask us to ensure her two beloved dogs would be safe and placed in homes that were the best matches. We promised to find them both wonderful forever homes. While her buddy Zeus found his family after a few months, GiGi waited with us in foster care for over a year.

That wait ended almost three weeks ago when Dave and Misty stepped into her life! They had been thinking about adding a second dog to their family and were searching for a lively, active companion to keep up with their lifestyle and their rescued terrier mix Dallas. GiGi turned out to be the exact missing piece they were looking for.

Misty shares:

"She’s fit right into our home. We all love her to pieces! Thank you!"

Thank you, Dave and Misty, for opening your hearts and home to GiGi and giving her the bright, happy future she deserves. Have the best life, sweet girl! 🐶✨
