Applications are open for four Directors-at-Large positions on SND’s Board, serving two-year terms beginning January 2027.

Current SND members are invited to apply. We welcome a range of backgrounds and skills—from journalism and design to technology, business, and finance.

Board service is a chance to strengthen our community, support our members, and help guide SND’s future.

The New York Times won an silver medal for “Swept Away” in Story Page Design: Climate & Environment (Digital)⁠

The judges noted the high level of detail in the water rendering, describing it as realistic, cohesive and carefully crafted with attention to contours, and that it reads well on mobile. They felt the text editing was tight and kept the focus, and described the work as state of the art and very strong. The judges also observed that there was a lot of thoughtful care behind how the story was told.

The New York Times for Kids won a silver medal for “The Huge Issue“ in Story Page Design: Lifestyle (Print)⁠

The judges said the piece was lovely and larger than life in what it accomplished, with the illustration, layout and typography strongly conveying a sense of wonder about big things. They felt the children’s book quality and elements like the sideways nameplate, centered headline and simple type were clever, effective and well executed. The judges also said it captured attention and curiosity, worked well as a folded or unfolded spread, and brought the audience of primarily kids into the world effectively. ⁠

The Straits Times won an silver medal for “Inside the confusing world of women’s clothing sizes“ in Use of Multimedia and Design Elements: Experimental (Digital)⁠

The judges found the use of 3D-printed models extremely experimental and praised the seamless transition between data visualization and the physical models. They noted the project was highly interactive, personal and innovative in combining multiple mediums to tell a story. They described it as creative, clever and a unique example of using 3D printing to convey information.
