Another great morning at Gate City Rotary!

We were pleased to welcome two guests to our meeting this morning and had the opportunity to hear from our very own Club President, David Lillard.

David shared more about the heart of Rotary and highlighted some of the incredible work being done by our Gate City Rotary Club and throughout District 7690. It’s always inspiring to be reminded that when Rotarians come together with a spirit of Service Above Self, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others—both right here in our community and beyond.

We’re proud of the work our club is doing and grateful for everyone who continues to give their time, talents, and resources to serve others.

What a great day of service with the Gate City Rotary Club!

Yesterday, our Rotarians rolled up their sleeves and had a lot of fun putting together beds for A Bed and A Book—but the best part was knowing exactly who we were doing it for.

We had the privilege of helping a local family with two young boys who did not have beds of their own to sleep in. Now, thanks to this wonderful program and a group of people willing to serve, these boys have a comfortable place to lay their heads at night.

It’s easy to take something as simple as a bed for granted, but for a child, having a safe and comfortable place to sleep can make such a difference.

This is what Rotary is all about—Service Above Self and making a difference in our community, one family at a time.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, worked hard, laughed together, and helped make this possible!

What a great morning at Gate City Rotary!

We enjoyed hearing from fellow Rotarian Gene Brown, Director of Community Housing Solutions, who shared with us about the important work being done to strengthen homes and improve lives throughout our community.

We were also grateful for a special 9/11 message from Tom Phoenix, reminding us of the significance of this day and the importance of remembering those who lost their lives, their families, and the first responders who answered the call.

And, of course, we couldn’t let the morning end without singing Happy Birthday to Bobby Christiansen!

Great fellowship, a meaningful program, and another reminder of why we’re proud to be Rotarians.

Service Above Self.

What a great morning at Gate City Rotary Club!

Today, we were excited to welcome Jodee Ruppell, who shared with us all that is in store for the North Carolina Folk Festival, September 18–20, 2026, in downtown Greensboro!

It was fascinating to learn not only about the incredible music, food, culture, and activities the festival brings to our community, but also about the significant economic impact it has on the City of Greensboro and Guilford County. Thousands of visitors come to our city each year for the festival, supporting our local restaurants, hotels, businesses, and community.

This is truly one of Greensboro’s signature events, and we are fortunate to have it right here in our backyard.

Mark your calendars for September 18–20 and come experience it for yourself. And the best part—it’s FREE!

Thank you, Jodee, for a fun and informative program and for sharing the excitement of this year’s NC Folk Festival with Gate City Rotary!

This is what giving back and Service Above Self are all about!

Yesterday, Gate City Rotary had another opportunity to partner with A Bed and A Book to help provide a child with something many of us take for granted—a comfortable place to sleep and books to call their own.

A big thank you to James Pegram and Michael Craig for volunteering their time and representing Gate City Rotary so well.

And a very special thank you to Kristen Marsh—she is an absolute rock star! Kristen continues to do an incredible job organizing these projects and creating opportunities for our club to make a real difference in our community.

We hope to see many more Gate City Rotarians join us for the next delivery. It’s a great opportunity for fellowship, service, and seeing firsthand the impact Rotary can have in the lives of others.

What a great morning at Gate City Rotary!

Today, we were privileged to welcome Dave Goren with the National Sports Media Association as our guest speaker. Dave shared with us about the tremendous work he and the NSMA are doing, particularly in mentoring and encouraging young people who have a passion for sports journalism and broadcasting. It was inspiring to hear how they are helping develop the next generation of professionals in the sports media industry.

We also had the pleasure of recognizing Michael Barnes, who was presented with a certificate honoring him as a Paul Harris Fellow. Congratulations, Michael, and thank you for your commitment to Rotary and to service above self!

We had a great crowd, a wonderful breakfast, and an even better time of fellowship this morning.

We would love to have you join us next Thursday! Come enjoy breakfast, meet some great people, and learn more about how Gate City Rotary is making a difference in our community and beyond.
