Members of the shift_ed team recently had the opportunity to attend the William Julius Wilson Institute’s Power of Place National Impact Convening in Harlem, joining leaders from communities across the country committed to creating stronger pathways to opportunity for children and families.
The convening was an opportunity to learn, connect, and reflect on an idea that is central to our work at shift_ed: lasting change happens when communities align around a shared vision and work collectively to remove barriers and create opportunity.
We left inspired by the conversations, the people, and the innovative approaches communities are using to drive place-based impact, and energized to bring those lessons back to our work in Guilford County and beyond.
Thank you to the William Julius Wilson Institute and Harlem Children's Zone for creating space for communities to learn from one another and continue building toward greater impact.
There is incredible power in place, and even greater power in what we can accomplish together.
